Football manager 2016

What will annoy me too my last days is PPM and not being able to force people into removing it. Okay granted a lowbie manager is not going to be avle to walk in and stop Gerrard taking long shots but in time he should be able with treats and dropping them.

As much as i want to get my hands on #FM16 i am not paying until it happens. Crappy too as i want to have a 4-4-2 with Janujaz and Depay up front. :/

Used to love CM/FM but for the last few iterations, I've found that once I've installed it, I play for a few hours then get bored, stop and rarely go back. I don't know why as this used to be my one big time sink back in the day (besides WoW). I think the reason for me is that the core game has simply changed too much. It's now too fiddly with too much going on and too many unnecessary facets you need to be constantly aware of and/or participate in. In many aspects it's just boring after a while...

The other thing which irritates me with FM is the fact that they release a full version every year for full price. I mean let's be honest, over the course of the last decade, there have only been one or two major changes. Everything else has been superfluous and could have been added on in patches. The fact they keep trotting one out every 12 months for full whack with a few incremental changes is just blatant profiteering :(

That said, I'll still get it but, I'll wait until it's about a tenner. No doubt install it, play it for a few hours then stop again...:D

I noticed Green Man Gaming is not on the list of retailers anymore. I always get FM from there, usually with a nice 25% discount voucher but they're all 54.99€ this year  do cdkeys.com and the like give beta access?

My main wishes are that they moved to 64-bit, multi-core optimised code (it could really use the extra RAM and threads) and that the 3D mode was more efficient. 2015 was rubbish in that regard. Even capping the FPS used to wind up the fans on my GTX 560 (and to a lesser extent my 970), but the graphics were rubbish. I didn't mind the poor graphics, as it's not what the game is about, but they must have some pretty pathetic 3D coders.

Have you tried the classic mode? It might be more up your street. Less fiddly negotiating and a bit more like Championship Manager and the early Football Managed used to be.

If they didn't have phenomenal sales each year (for a sports strategy game, which would normally be very niche) I could have seen them moving towards a subscription-based or DLC model. There's only so much you can add to a football management game to be honest, but so long as sales are strong (and they still top the charts most years) I can't see that changing.

I actually play the classic version on my iPad and must admit that I prefer that version to the all singing all dancing PC version. The fact it's scaled down somewhat does make it more accessible. Trouble is, the control method on the tablet (the fiddliness for my fat fingers) brings its own problems... I can't win.

Yes that's the one thing in it's favour. It's extremely popular and the huge following it has will always buy each version released and SI know they can take advantage and coin it in. Can't really blame them for that.

I might try starting on classic mode on PC this year just to see if it makes things more fun.

I like the option of having a lot of control, but it can get tedious, so I may give classic a go at first to see what it's like.

Hi guys,

Anyone bought this game (or previous versions) from Amazon?

It doesn't say anything about Steam only stuff about their games library downloads?

And wondering if it gets BETA access? Although the download code says its available immediately

No code for me either :( I've emailed them just to make sure.

EDIT:

Hey Fulax,

I am seriously dithering about the purchase. I love the game but can I justify the cost? Someone sell it to me.

How about 22% off? :D

I'm super tempted right now. Watching someone stream it on Twitch and it's only making my craving worse. Usually I wait until an update/patch has been released, not sure if I can hold out this time!

I've put 2036 hours into 15 alone.

Sounds like you get value for money from it ;)

To be fair none of the new features are particularly exciting, but I skipped 15 so I was always going to buy this years' version.

Got my key from GMG - downloading the beta now.
