Forgot how bad job searching was :(

I've now found something I hate more then when you make an application for a job and they never get back to you - when an employer emails you directly (must have found my CV on a job site), saying they have xx position would I be interested, I reply yes, please let me know more info, then nothing :( I mean why bother, or at least reply saying its been filled or whatever!

Might be worthwhile asking to speak to a disability employment advisor (this is the job I do at the job centre), if your health is such that you are having to consider a different area of work than you have done before then this is also something that should be taken into consideration when looking at funding training.

that's interesting to know!
I can no longer work in what the area I've worked in before, and currently waiting for a diagnosis on why even a small trip round to the shop is agonisingly painful. I want to work but struggle to even walk around the house some days which mean my old physical job is a no go.

yeah they know iv had a dodgy leg as thats why i had to stop working as a binman (agency) in the first place, all they say is look for other work you can do, and the last time it got bad one advisor suggested i get a sick note and claim sick for 12-13 weeks while i get assesed even though i know il be banged back on jobseekers as im not bad enough to be classed as sick.

Tell them this mate.

i have done, in there words "well its down to YOU to work out what YOU want" they dont have the ability or training it seems to help with anything other than signing on and trying to stick you in any job they can find.

again this is just my jobcenter here in a dung pile of a northern town, for all i know the dwp wont spend the money here but its just so annoying that for all the schemes talked about on the news im not actually able to get any sort of help.

Recruiters really wind me up. I'm more than qualified and have the desired skills for the role, "send me your CV and i'll give you a call this afternoon". No call.

So paranoid about my CV now.

On the plus side, I have an interview for an ICT role today. A bit different as I was looking to move back into Insurance but we'll see how it goes.

Job searching is dire. Doesn't help that I'm looking for a job in an area that there aren't any jobs for someone with my qualifications :p.

Ignore that, the recruiter actually called me back the day after!

Either way, I managed to bag myself that ICT role :). What I thought was going to be something purely hardware hands on related, is actually a full project manager role, involving million pound contracts in schools etc. Sounds amazing!

Starting salary is 21k moving up to 33k after a year, which is nearly 7k more than I was one when doing chartered accountancy! Beautiful.

Just keep searching guys! It's always when you least expect it.

bloody CV sites!
Had to sign up yesterday to one to apply for a job, now today I've received half a dozen emails saying thanks for signing up to various sites. This is after making sure I ticked and unticked various boxes to make sure this wouldn't happen. Unfortunately I think I had to tick one to be able to actually apply for the job. Scam artists!

well after my emails to chris grayling and then jobcenter hq i get a phone call today from my local jobcenter about when i sign tomorow.

they claim to have an advisor who will be able to put me in contact with two groups who should be able to help me.

this is the same advisor i saw at the end of last year who just had a go at me for not knowing what i want to do and suggesting i should go on the sick for 13 weeks to get me off there books ?!

talk about feeling like being passed piller to post.

Had an interview with Total E&P UK on Monday and they rang me today offering the job.

Woohoooo! :D

Anyone else ever been worried about quitting a job? I currently work for a small company (8 people), but I applied for my dream job on the off chance which I didnt think I had a chance in hell of getting, and totally nailed it. As I have been working at my current job less than 6 months, I only have to give a weeks notice as stated in my contract. My new job want me to start Feb 6th, so I am handing in my notice this friday. However, I feel awful that I am quitting on short notice as they are OBLIVIOUS, and feel awful about increasing everyones work load as they will never find a replacement in a week for my job.

I know it's myself I have to think about, as this is my career I am deciding on, but I just feel like I am really screwing them over. This new job is closer to my girlfriend, better money, much better prospects and generally a very very bright future, so I am 100% handing in notice this Friday.

Advice please :(

Advice? Just do what you're already going to do really :p

It will be annoying, I've had to leave previously and put people in the deep, but sometimes it needs to be done. You've basically given yourself a perfect scenario there for leaving, you aren't just doing it for the hell of it.

Hopefully people will actually be nice and ask why you are leaving? Atleast you have something to explain to them, ie dream job it's closer to the lady etc etc.

Congrats mate :) I need to be leaving my place, purely for money purposes (i'm on like -13K currently) and its not going up anytime soon...Soon as I do though, it's going to be hell for them as theres things I do no one else has much of a clue on

I know I just need to man up, and hopefully they will understand my reasoning. I really like the people that work there and the thought of dropping them in it suddenly just makes me feel crappy. What would Lord Alan Sugar say eh? ;)

I had to reply, you should'nt feel any guilt whatsoever. They would'nt think twice about making you redundant if they took a sudden downturn.

Got an interview tomorrow :)

Guy rang me this morning about it and despite it being pretty far on in the process they want to see me to see how I fit for the job. Cautiously optimistic they have went out of their way to see me, if all goes well tomorrow there is a second stage on 22nd Feb so we'll see what happens :p

Bit of research now so I know what I'm on about and swat up on my CV :D I can do 90% of the stuff they want in my sleep but 10% I have only had limited exposure so will play that part down and big up the rest!

Yup. I have been in the same job for 10 years come August (although was promoted 2 years ago). I have finally applied for an IT job yesterday within the same company (large company). The pay drop is quite a bit but I haven't been happy at work for a year now.

I have to give a months notice, but would probably give an extra month if I could so they have time to find a replacement (I get on very well with my manager). Having said all that, I might not even get an interview, let alone offered the job!

I always think it pays to leave on good terms, might need to go back there one day!

Still getting calls about positions, even though I've not updated my CV on any of the sites for months now.

I listen to what they have to say incase it's an interesting position, but not been anything so far.

Been 2 months now and it's still a bit quiet day to day for my liking work wise, but if all pans out I should be in a position to create a role for myself that's extremely similar to the job I left for personal reasons, which would be excellent.

Am loving working from home as much as I want though :)
