Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Woot! Just saw this thread (yeah, don't come into GD so much) and just thought I'd post that after nigh on 4 months of searching I have be offered (and accepted) a new job! Very awesome.

Quit my job a year and a half ago to go travelling, and have been looking for a job since I got back. Was really getting into the despair stage and nearly began to regret ever resigning.

Start on Monday! Now I just have to start looking for a new place to live! Commuting to work for the first time in 1 year and 7 months is going to be tough!

Nice work chap :) Congratulations!

May I ask what it is you will be doing now then?

Thanks mate, still on a high to be honest :)

I'm a software engineer - so I'll be doing application development (mostly in Java) for a geoscience technology company. Geoscience is a new field for me - so gonna be a LOT to learn quickly to get up to speed! :)

Had a LOT of recruitment people contact me regarding positions while I was looking. Some were really good and seemed to know their business, others clearly hadn't even bothered to read my CV. This position came to me from a recruiter though who was really good - so I am very happy with the position, and glad that he gets paid too.

So I've finished Uni for good today.

Hoping to get a 2:1 or maybe just maybe scrape a 1st in BSc (Hons) Business Information Tech, although I have no previous experience, and very limited work experience, so I've shot myself in the foot a bit there. Been looking at IT support jobs but I don't know if I'd be good enough, don't know what I'm going to do I'd hate to have to get a job shelve stacking but might have to.

What the hell are you doing on here?

Go out and celebrate! :)

Sounds Glorious....

Sadly the last thing I overclocked was my AMD X2 :o :( So doubt I'd be a good candidate

Nothing a spot of reading up on new tech wouldnt sort if you are right minded.

I know a few of the guys at Asus UK and a keen will to learn goes a long way.

From what I understand clocking new chips etc is WAY easier than the old stuff anyway.

True.

that's my issue, I'd be willing to learn, always am, sadly my lack of confidence during an interview gets me every time

Again mate you never know until you give things a try. a lot of the people at Asus UK are very friendly. I for one actually know the chap who will be interviewing you (most likley) and he is a nice, easy to get along with guy.

Sending in a C.V wouldnt hurt ;)

Will tinker it shortly hopefully then :)

Thanks

Update: Managed to get a full time job as a Sales Associate at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. I love Greenwich and Science and History so I will enjoy it. The contract ends in September so I'll have to try hard to impress them.

Just rejected another 2 month extension for my current job.
Sitting on public transport for 3 hours a day is wearing thin...

No job to go to, will soon be joining the unemployment massive!

Pro: Chance of finding job near home. Can catch up on some gaming!
Neg: Ever increasing lack of funds, leading to poverty and doom.
