Forgot how bad job searching was :(

just filling out my form to drop in today and why the hell do they leave you with sod all space.

name and address section is one box, single leter height and about 2 inches long at most. i know we are trying to save the planet but unless i write with a needle god only knows what they expect me to do.

and speaking of the jobcenters total incompetence, i phoned them up this morning at 9:55 as i have to attend my work programme at 2pm, but im expected to hand in this form before 12. so i asked could i drop it in later, seems to do that i need a new apointment time, even though i have a 2 hour window to hand it in whenever to start with !? and i also found out the jobcenter now opens at 10 on a tuesday, rather than 9am so besides cutting staff numbers they are cutting opening hours.

i can see this year being full of even more idiocy than the last :S

hahaha,

I feel you dude. My work programme advisor is literally dumb as hell. No joke. Nice guy though but really when I go in there it achieves absolutely zero. Such a waste of my time. I'm thinking of part time bar job like 10ish hours a week, I can then sign off. Reckon it's my best bet after my clinical trial fell through.

Keep us posted about your progress :D

The work programme is a total joke. I'm now working 10 hours a week so I might just sign off so I don't have to deal with them.

well the cv session at the work programme was a shambles. i got told seeing as i have a nice enough cv i just had to transfer it to there applet that they use for emailing it out, fair enough. should have been half an hour if that.

i get there and it ends up 10 of us sat around a table for an hour and 10 mins being told how to lay out a cv. and now il be contacted in a week or two about writing mine up ?!

and already theres different ways they want me to lay it out, my advisor says you shouldnt list hobbies and intrests. the girl who was giving this talk today said you should. both are ex jobcenter staff which is a worry.

Two interview recently...nothing came of either of them :(

Not what I reallllllllllly want to be doing anyway, just more money.

No idea where I want to be if I'm honest!

I'm filling in a form electronically and just noticed it asks for "in black capitals" should I change everything over to block capitals? I'm guessing it's left over from their application by hand days as the form is hardly correctly for typing. I keep having to go in change spacing, change the font back, such a horrible document to work with!

Do as the form suggests, someone in HR might think you're being a smart bumface!

Unlucky Delvis, you've been looking for ages now!

Well....Bearing in mind I created this thread when I was made redundant back in 2008 :p I've had several jobs since then.

Just been trying to get out of this job as I can't live on the current wage very easily.

Enjoying being back in work part time with Jessops quite a lot... but just got a phone interview for Apple tomorrow. Excited.

After eighteen years at my last job, I'm now job-hunting as well. So far the most annoying bits are:

1) No two electronic application forms are the same.
2) The relentless cheerfulness of the people in the dole office is annoying.
3) The long wait after an application is depressing, especially when so many companies don't respond at all. It can't be hard or time-consuming surely, with most applications now electronics, to respond to all applicants automatically.

I emailed off an application form earlier and only just twigged that who I emailed it to sent an out of office reply stating that she'd be out of office till the day before the deadline. I went back and checked everything and the hyperlink was the recruitment email address visually but when clicked brought her email address. if that makes sense.
I didn't even think/notice earlier. I've now sent an email appologising and saying that I've emailed the correct place now.

We've been trying to recruit at work for 2 positions in our IT Helpdesk. It's been a nightmare, they've had about 40 phone interviews and not one of the candidates seems to have any interest in the job, learn anything about our company or have any technical knowledge. I blame the recruitment companies. They just don't look at people's cv properly.

I am still receiving loads of calls from agents offering me roles that I have no skills in or are at the other end of the country. Worst people in the world....after estate agents anyway

We're a large national retailer so they have their own ways of recruiting (selective agents and website advertising).

It's just really difficult for our team at the moment. Only 5 team members, should be 8 but when people are off sick, day in lieu from working Saturdays and holiday times, we're under so much pressure.

Which is working well obviously :p

Know the feeling though, me and one other person have supported nearly a 1000 users once, that was ridiculous when there was no one to take first line calls and stuff
