Forgot how bad job searching was :(

True :) I'm not putting my eggs in one basket this time though, the hunt is still on as I haven't heard anything back, despite asking questions in the email I sent.

I got a call 12 months after they told me that saying ok do you still want a job now with us lol

I just missed out at final interview stage for an ideal job that was perfect for me, slightly different side to my career to date though and whilst I have the base skills they took the guy who had more hands on experience. :(

Fed up of being unemployed :(:p:(

Well, that job fell through. Just saw it advertised first thing this morning, they didn't even get in touch to state their intentions or answers the questions I'd asked. The requirements were a lot more technical than I'd expected or could offer and I probably had a lucky escape. It wasn't what I was initially interviewed for at all.

Oh well, you learn and push on! 4 more CVs sent out this morning, we shall see if anyone replies....

well signed on properly yesterday for the last time for now, from now on i just pop a form in with my signiture on every couple of weeks due to me being on this work programme.

taling with the advisor yesterday and i asked if something had happend as the jobcenter was very busy, and she says its basicaly the fact theres 22 less staff there now since 12 months ago, they let a few more go a week ago and wont renew the contracts.

she also said theres 1700 people on this work prgramme for being out of work 12 months, theres only 8k people registered in the area as unemployed so thats a big chunk of long term joblessnes.

at the 1 to 1 i had monday at the work programme it was 30 mins of meet and greet basicaly, went over what im looking for and any problems or anything i may have.
said they will fund some training but again anything worth while isnt on offer as they just dont have the funding.

again he makes it clear they wont send me to anything i dont want to go to or that i wouldnt be able to do or is just plain wrong for me.

now i have another apointment in 2 weeks for me to stick my cv on a applet that they use as it seems copy and pasting out of the email i sent them is a tad dificult !?

Was supposed to have an interview this morning...It was cancelled though...BAH!!!

trying to find out when it can be re-scheduled for :(

Hmmm, just had a charming recruitment agent tell me I'm far behind where I should be at 7 years out of a red brick uni and should be on £55-60k. Cheers mate. :(

maybe you should have asked where all the 55-60k jobs are and why they arnt in one :p

really cant stand agencies or head hunters, so stuck up there own backsides.

really wouldn't worry, ignore and carry on.

As said, half of them talk a load of tosh anyway

From experience I wouldn't really class them as the same, a true head hunting experience is usually ok as there's usually a genuine position that a company specifically wants you for.

It's a lot more targeted than a general agency searching for people for a role.

Sorry that's a rubbish explanation but can't think how better to put it :p

Agencies do tend to be frustrating at times though, but find a good one and make as much use of them as you can!

well agencies iv had my fill of them as far as being offerd work and being expected to drop everything for the possibility of A days work.

as for head hunters iv only ever come across them socialy so probably rather different to how people meet them proffesionaly, all i can say of the ones iv met is they were a big ole set of douche bags who'd sell there mother to get a contract filled.

but again i could have just met a office full of idiots and im sure there are ones out there that arnt total idiots :P

You're probably right on a personal level, but from a getting me a job point of view they can sell whoever they like if it gets me the job :)

I always get stuck when they ask me why i would be a better candidate for the job. Anyone got a perfect answer for this when my uni grades are pretty bad?

Got another interview with the same company for the new position they were asking if I was interested in.

Better get researching, this is the second interview they've offered me and I don't want to blow it! :(

Had an interview...Not sure how it went really, always find it hard to get myself across in the right way.

Just sound thick normally :p

Just had a call from an agency, almost identical role to my current, 30 minutes closer to home, £8k more pay, and in an interesting industry that will probably have some cool employee perks.

Hoping to set up an interview next week!

Well it's been a month in now and so far I'm enjoying the new job! The network I manage is triple the size of what I came from so it's a nice learning curve.

Only goofed up once whereby I gave HR my wrong bank account number by 1 digit and so payment boiunced over the weekend!!

Quickly gave the right digit this morning and I should get paid by Wednesday now.

The best part?

I put £20 in my car at the start of the month, it's still going today and I've been on a few "spirited" drives as well, nice to drive just for the sake of driving :p

Oh and this is the view on the commute now:

:D
