Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Mate as a ex apprentice, apprentice mentor and Apprentice area trainer.
I can tell you not to worry, they dont expect you to know the in's and outs of the job straight away, thats what the training is for.

And for the self conffidence, it should be your mentors/trainers job to build that up with you. They won't just chuck you in the deep end and hope you swim if they are a decent company.

Also your previous history will probably hold you in higher stead than a person straight out of school because you have knowingly chosen this role, instead of wandering into it. Plus experiance is experiance end of the day, you have worked to targets and within teams, which is what they are loooking for.

Anyway now to be a selfish bugger, I have just got a my compex qualification and am now looking at a shed load of new jobs, Its gonna be a pain in the arse altering my c.v. for each one. Anyone got a tips on what areas Oil and Gas are concentrating on when looking at C.V's ??

I've just started to join various job sites and upload cv's over the past couple of weeks. The one thing i'm struggling with is writing up summeries and key skills on my profiles. Anyone got any tips?

Status:
Company 1 - direct application, 1x HR interview, then the Hiring manager rejected based on other applicants have more direct experience.
Company 2 - agent - 1x interview with agent, 1x Skype f2f interview with hiring manager, 1x Skype f2f interview with CV, and now have been asked to go to Brussels to meet in person (expensed to company)
Company 3 - direct - 1x HR interview, 1x phone interview with main boss, 4x f2f interview in the offices with different managers.. still awaiting outcome.

So it continues..

Got laid off 2 weeks ago due to it being too quiet. The following day I had interview arranged which I passed and done an assessment which I believe I passed as I got contacted about being vetted. Didn't hear anything since that.

I got a phone call yesterday from a company I worked for before, went in today signed contract and I start Monday :D Way better hours and pay too :)

Got a call back from a job I applied for. If I get it I'd be asking people about their TV Licences so not entirely sure it's the job for me but anything would be better than my current job right now.

I still need to figure out a real career though.

Just worked out the interview trip to brussels will be about £200 (expensed to the company).

So they obviously like me so far..

Excellent!

I start my new job on Monday, bit nervous. I'm unsure if I'm actually good at what I do, if I just appear to be good at what I do because 95% of the people we employ are very poor. Monday will be a big test.

Had an email from my line manager today - looks like the company are going to come after me for the training courses they paid for. Fair enough, it was in the policy and I agreed to it, was hoping they'd write the costs off as a goodwill gesture but doesn't look like that is going to happen. Going to be interesting because I simply don't have £4500 to be able to pay them!

They're firing, not hiring at the moment round here.

Yep, that industry is not doing well at the moment. We look after the telephone systems for two large oil companies and one company has gone from 12 sites with over a thousand employees to one site with 12!!!!

Had my interview yesterday for the Business development apprenticeship yesterday. Went well I think, I don't think I could have done any better and walked away satisfied. If I don't get it I wont feel bad as I really tried.
It sounds very exciting and I didn't sleep till about 2am this morning and cant stop talking about it. The managing director said he would give the college an answer on the weekend so hopefully ill hear this week.

C1 - just found out I've passed the mass set of interviews on friday.. phone interview with head honcho in US end of the week..
C2 - been prepping and researching the entire market ahead of the f2f..

Internal. I was supposed to hear back by Friday. They contacted me this morning and asked me to go to formal interview :)

Formal interview is on Friday, and they say they want to make a decision on Friday.

This department isn't messing about! I have a presentation to write.

that's cool, hopefully by tomorrow evening you can be in a bar somewhere celebrating :)

(in fact if you got the role through a recruiter make them buy you a few drinks to begin with, they'll be earning enough off your back as it is)
