Forgot how bad job searching was :(

I passed some technical phone interview and person said they were impressed with my answers and would put me through to face to face interview. Two days later they said sorry the place had just been filled! sigh.

Got 2 more interviews lined up and waiting on some online applications to get back to me.

Have started looking into a new job now, the one i am in has steadily gone down hill over the past few months.

Been there 18 months now, was told after 6 i would have an assesment and possibly a slight pay rise, never heard a thing.

Not a single person, apart from management, got a payrise this year.

A week after we were told we were not to be having a payrise, the whole office was brought togther saying we were to be merged and that some jobs may be being cut, yet they told us to stay positive...

Then the company spend hundreds on new equipment for our office, which about a month later was replaced by a markerboard which is now manually updated.

Half of the office have nice new flat screen monitors, the other half have crappy CRT's, me included.

All shifts have been adjusted to "suit" the company better, but not a single person in the office feels it is doing anything better as there are times of the day where a 4 man team is being run single handedly, at the bussiest point of the week, for 4 hours.

I just don't see any point in staying there much longer, the only thing stopping me handing my notice in is that im 23 and have a mortgage, otherwise i would be out of there like a shot.

have put an email to my manager asking for a transfer to a different department, which i will be chasing today as i have just had a week off.

Rant over :p

Have been through just about every job site i know of this week, and either im not qualified or if i am, its something that would require me driving, which i cant :(

Just hope my email for a transfer has at least been looked at :)

Anywho off to the joyous place now for 8 1/2 of fun

I've just realised I didn't put "(Hons)" after my degree on my CV, which could be a bit of an issue, so that's updated and now I've got the "fun" task of updating all of my online CV's, not that that will really help all the "we are not employing" emails but you never know.

On a more positive note I spoke to a lecturer at my graduation the other day and he thinks he knows a couple of small companies looking for people so I may be able to get in there, otherwise it's royal mail christmas temp and a pay "cut" to what I was on when I was 16...:p

Expanding my search 'parameters' a little to contract opportunities and development manager (a role that I'll be twiddling my fingers but it's a job). Considering CTO area too..

what websites are you guys using?

ive had a look on jobs4sheffield, jobsinsheffield, monster, fish4, job centre, sheffield council...any big ones im missing out on?

Looking at something IT based preferably, am only qulified upto A level though.

Anything will do though so not necesarily (sp?) IT based :)

why do companies take so ****ing long to respond to your applications/cv, etc?
i want a job now, not in 2012!

I suspect it's the number of applications and the then the bean counters..

Well.. that's the second time that a recruiter has phoned up attempting to match me with a certain computer 'squad' which is not what I'm looking for.

I'm having problems with job searching myself right now. I'm 18, went to University but decided within 2 weeks I didn't like it and am now on the look out for a job. Educated up to a BTEC National in IT but most jobs I see want at least 2 years experience, don't really mind where I go but would like something IT/Business related, possibly even sales. I have seen that a promotions company here in Swansea is looking to take and and they appear to pay well but I've never heard of them so I'm unsure.

No idea what the job market is like in Wales, I take it trainee-type positions are thin on the ground?
