Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Well I've heard back from the previous interview - I made it to the last selection but they went for the guy with more commercial experience. Grrr! :D

Try trawling your local phonebook for businesses you think are a good bet to work for, then call or visit them.

Nice to see some of you share my feelings about recruitment agencies.

Anyway, just fired off an application for a role with a certain large waste management company. Pay looks good and the role looks right up my street. I'll be keeping everything I possess that I can cross crossed in the hope that I get this one, I need out of my current temp customer services job (that I was misled into taking by an agency) oh so badly.

Here's to hoping. :)

I remember looking for a job in the summer, what a nightmare that was.

The funny thing is the North/South divide. When I was in London, I did not fill in a single application form, just emailed my CV. Not a lot of luck with recruitment agencies down there either.

Back to the North, filled in about a dozen applications as well a university one as my plan B. Luckily got a part time job in IT and accepted into University.

The one good thing is that applying for jobs is over for a couple of years at least :)

Well just had my interview with the Oil service company and it didn't seem to go too badly so hopefully...

Probably the next 'dump' will be at the start of november..

Just applied to one of my old companies, although the position is one I can comfortably do the salary is twice-thrice what I was on!

It's the difference between being on my architectural side (more experienced) or being on my product management side (lower pay).

There is just nothing of interest about atm.

You're a developer aren't you?

There's plenty of work in the financial sector at the moment, seems like lots of the big banks are starting to put together new projects and are taking on quite a few developers right now.
Don't know if that would be of interest to you, but it's certainly well paid work!

I agree there, however after a few months of living with no money i've finally given up and started looking for anything including out of my area (retail etc...)

Haven't done my latest dump of emails, i've been meaning to do them all week but never got round to it.:o

Not really no, but then some of us have to take whatever we can get, including "crappy" retail and cleaning jobs.

Hmm if this carries on into next year then I have a choice - raid the house deposit or look for something else. Quite honestly I have no idea what I could do instead and I think the only way to solve that is raid the house deposit and go travelling for a year.. chances are I still probably won't have an idea!

I've got a 2nd interview in Islington on Monday, down to me and one other candidate. Taken me since January this year to get this far so I hope it's worth it!

Well I have an understanding landlord, but that only goes so far. He could sue me if I fall behind on rent more than once, and is well within his rights to do so. Nothing to stop him turning round and saying "get a job" is there?

Retail... Or a postie...:(:p

Just make sure you can work all 5 weekdays then. ;) I've been turned down on that basis because some of my time is taken up by university lectures.

not seen any come up down here recently
guess that may be about to change!
