Forgot how bad job searching was :(

We talking contract or temp or what?
If the money isn't good and covering cost I wouldn't take it

It is a contract but the company gave me the impression and actually said specifically that they only have 2-3 months of project work left but could be extended, you never know.

Got the ball rolling though, the agency is getting paperwork sorted out between them and the company. I've also been told to go through an Umbrella company so I can claim some expenses so I've been filling out forms for that this afternoon.

I managed to negotiate £12 per hour based an 37.5 hour week with them. Which is more than the £8 per hour I was on in my previous contract job (though that was local). It's just a question of organising accommodation etc.

:)

I did MEng Aerospace Engineering (2:1) back in 2006 and since then I have been unemployed, registered with job centre, attended several interviews and assessment centres, volunteered at a charity organization, worked as an assitant manager for the same charity organisation, been made redundant from the same charity, back to unemployment, failed to get into phd due to lack of funding, applied to middle east and canada with no luck, did Autodesk Inventor 3d cad course, self learnt autocad 2005 and autocad 2010, built my first PC, applied for cad jobs again with no luck again and now thiking of going in to teaching if I am lucky:(. So many things I have been through and done. What more can I offer to employers?.

Found out I didn't make it on PGCE courses either:(. It's like you have to attend assessment centres just to get on these courses and so many applications for these courses. Even though there is shortage of maths teachers in this country there is enough supply of candidates wanting to be maths teachers.

Noticed you self taught Autocad etc.

At our school the CDT department teach the kids autocad and inventor. So could you not become a teacher in that, instead of maths?

Been trying to get a new job for the last 9 months. However, I am fortunate enough to be employed already. Have had one or two interviews, but not got anywhere because i'm usually pipped by someone with just a bit more experience.

I've been working as a Senior Systems Administrator for 4 1/2 years, and been in IT for 6 years (did 1st/2nd level crap when I started out).

Got certifications coming out of my ears - CCNP, CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCTS, but still, getting nowhere.

South Wales blows

How about checking out Bristol? It's what, 60 miles away? Not too bad if there's a good job at the end of that journey :)

Here's a valuable lesson for us all: if your Agency says you have an interview on Friday & sends you a confirmation email, do check that the date on the email is in fact Friday, not Monday.

What an absolute cockup! A 60 mile round trip, 2 hours wasted and my chances blown before i've even sat down for the interview. I'm so annoyed at myself, especially as it's a pretty prestigious organisation and I checked all the details at least twice apart from the stinking date!

Anyways, back on Monday to try & pull something out of the ashes.

Im still searching for work, think I'm going to apply for a masters for a september 2011 start, but still keep applying for proper jobs. Gonna spam the town to see if I can get any job to save for a masters.

I arrived in the UK on the 9th of July, and enjoyed myself for a while firstly. Started looking for work (sent my first CV) on the 30th of July to a job agency to get the ball rolling. Went into the agency on the Monday to talk to my recruiter about my CV and do some basic testing, ended up staying behind for an interview about a job at the agency, got the call the next day that I got the job and started the day after that so I was pretty happy with how quickly that happened.

I currently have a full time job and im also seeking a new "Career". It is indeed VERY hard. :(

Best of luck to all who are searching / Applying.

Ill be honest, in six weeks of job searching I only got through to 2 interviews both of which I did good in but not good enough when compared with other people it seems.

It's really tough but I nearly laughed the other day when I heard I got a new job and on the same day I finally get some JSA through...6 weeks it took to process £170. I hate to think what it would be like if I had rent, kids and god knows what else. :o

Got another telephone interview Monday morning, for a role I'm much more comfortable in talking about in an area I am relatively good at.

Although I'm sure they'll find a way to make me come across a total idiot and I'll just fail massively :(

Plus it's in Bristol which is a bit of a commute from down here, but would be a decent job :/

Reading all your stories makes me feel a bit greedy, im currently working in 2nd line support for a IT maintenace company but looking for a new job as i dont feel the company reward my hard work with a better salary.

The only way to get a decent payrise if you feel you aren't given enough is to find another job. Who you work for?
