Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Went to the job centre on Friday and found it very helpful. They gave me a ton of information plus information about vacancies that had just come up. Since I'm also in the 18-24 age bracket, they've given me a personal advisor to help me find a job/improve my CV.

Also put me in contact with so local organisations that run workshops on cv's, job interviews etc. I've been searching for a few months but after visiting the Job Centre I feel like I'm doing something which will help.

Here's hoping something comes of it.

^ Sounds promising.

Just had an interview as a "Market Graduate" for a hair/fashion company...will find out at 3pm if i got through to the second stage, eek.

Well nice to see someone getting help from them as they haven't even looked at my CV let alone given me a personal advisor.

On a side note, why is it a recruitment agency would send me a rejection email on the grounds that a role would be to junior for me. I mean I just want a job and some money coming through rather than sat at home all day. :o

I applied for a job but got turned down had every single qualification and more they wanted in relation to the job. Just don't have experience working in desktop support or IT yet! Pain in the ass...

UL just keep looking mate.

I need to find a job!

Anyone got any decent websites?

Following on from my terrible phone interview, I have been invited into a face to face interview. Hopefully, I don't mess this one up. Should be interesting because this will be my first ever proper job interview :D:D

What sort of sales? Face-to-face, in-store, telephone etc?
Face to face/telemarketing I guess in a B2B environment.

I've got an interview/aptitude/psychometric test this Friday in Manchester for a company called Sqaure 1 Products. Hope this goes well.

Some good news at last. Got a call just out the blue from a telecoms company who, in my last job, were the competitors. They had a chat with me and seem pretty keen as they have 2-3 months worth of work and its exactly same as what I was doing in my old job. Only issue is that its in Coventry so that means driving down 2 hours and staying over night in the week and then back at weekend.

So question is, if I get offered it. Should I go for it even though it means travelling quite far. Does anyone else do this in their job? :)

Went in for an eye test at spec savers was told i had 20 20 vision in both eyes but to come back friday for another test to relax my eyes to make sure.

The chick who was testing me seemed to like my attitude so introduced me to the manager and assistant manager who i had a funny conversation with and they asked me if i was looking for a new job i said yes ive just moved from london where i was running a commmunity centre and what not.

They said bring a cv and we shall see what we can do, so i went home grabbed my best cv came back handed it in.

They called me back today and said come in on friday for an interview for a job role of Opticians assistant.

BOOYAH? Im already kushty with both managers n 3 memebers of staff who all seem to like me.

Thing is i didnt even.... ask for oppurtunity they must have realy liked my character.

Im WELL CHUFFED!

First interview tomorrow after passing the online verbal reasoning tests, so fingers crossed. I must've applied for about 20+ jobs so far, but this is the first one that's shown any interest - seems tough out there !

Good job! It just shows that you can get somewhere just by knowing (or casually being nice to) people :)

Sounds like you were over qualified and they thought you would get bored and move on too quick.

We talking contract or temp or what?
If the money isn't good and covering cost I wouldn't take it

For the last couple of days I've just given up. I have no motivation anymore. I've applied for numerous positions and not getting at least one interview has seriously taken a toll on my self esteem.

I want a job but I just can't keep going through rejection after rejection after rejection. I'm 21 and have no faith in the job market. That is clearly not a good sign.

Looked at a apprenticeship at British Gas and they wanted £16k upfront, 16000 POUNDS ridiculous considering I self funded myself at college for £3k and what they are teaching I already know from college.

I'm suffering too mate. I reckon I've applied for about 80 jobs. Had 5 interviews -- messed them all up for some reason or other including for one being 'over-enthusiastic' :( well over 90% of jobs they don't even bother getting back to me to say 'no'. Just the 'deathly complete silence of death' - and god forbid you phone them to ask their thoughts ... :/

Depressing stuff. Nothing worse than thinking 'No-one out there in the whole of society is prepared to pay to have me work for them'. Really hammers into your self confidence, especially as I would actually put a seriously hard graft in :( Especially bad when you've got a family to support and she looks at you just a bit different at 2:40 on the Tuesday afternoon, as if she's deep down thinking 'er .. come on mate - pull your weight you lazy sod....' :( JEES I'M TRYING :(

Well, I am looking again. Got a very nice 6 month contracting position which sadly came to an end on Friday and they have no funds to renew. :(

Cannot really moan, I would have taken the 6 month salary over the course of a year in this climate.

Seen on job I am going to apply for in London. Might be a bit out of my league but you got to aim high. :)

Thought I might as well throw my hat into the ring with my own current tale of job hunting. I'm being made redundant (again) due to a centralisation project. Got my finish date a couple of weeks ago, 31st October, which gives me 2 and a bit months to find something new.

Done the usual round of consultants, some who remembered me from 3 years ago & others who i'm new to. The job market seems a bit slow & the consultants have all sadi that there are more people of the higher calibre going for each role, which makes it all the more competitive. That said there are a number I've seen that interest me and have had about half a dozen job specs passed my way already.

I've had one interview already, before I got my end date, a really interesting role with plenty of scope to make it my own & add to the business. Totally mullered the interview though! I know exactly which questions & screwed up and they probably cost me a shot at the job. I just wasn't concentrating enough on the interview, hadn't got properly into 'the zone', if you know what I mean. Anyhoo, we'll put that one down as a practice swing...

I've another interview on Friday morning and I'm really keen for this one. The role sounds great, excellent company and plenty of future prospects. I do not want to balls this one up!

I finished applying for larger companies a couple of weeks ago with no luck and have moved onto agencies and small businesses following surgery that I can now walk again without pain (yay).

Submitted one application for a graduate role in a small business reporting to the MD on Sunday. Had a call and interview first thing Monday morning, and am being put forward for another interview. Salary is better than most grad schemes but I'm not trying to get my hopes up but I know there's only been 6 other applicants and I'm a good match.

Other than that I'm still just going through job sites and trying to avoid telemarketing and 'recruitment consultant' positions.

Overall I am more happy than I was a few weeks ago. I'm getting closer to a job, I can feel it!
