Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Well I found out about the job I was interview on Friday for, I got offered a position and start on Monday. Current work place aren't too happy about the short noticed but, if they don't treat their staff right they can't expect the staff to do them a favour. So happy finally get to start my chosen career path.

Ah brilliant :)

Exactly man, don't feel bad about the short notice, if a company treats you like crap, long as you do everything within the contracted amount they cannot do naff all.

Had my first day today :) Hmm it was ok I guess better than the last job and I at least have a job so can't complain, no getting up at 6am anymore, it's local :D and I handle lots of zotac products, testing systems and answer tech support emails so I could think of worse things to do, not a career but it will do for now. And no annoying co-workers just a nice boss :D

Sounds awesome to be honest, love to do something like that.

Much better than teachers thinking they know it all and thinking all of their issues are high priority :o..Oh and being paid sweet naff all for it as well

Man, I tell you, agencies are so full of it.

Went last week and rush rush, get you in get your application forms filled out and now when she said she would ring back on monday to tell me if I am starting tuesday or wednesday and she hasn't rang back.

Its all rush rush when they need something and yet it takes them forever when its the other way round. :(

Yep which is why you have to keep calling them so they don't forget about you.

Got my application in today for a pretty much perfect job, was a pain of a form though.

Bulk of it was just 3 questions, one with a 1400 word guide/limit to summarise loads of stuff.

Just glad it's done, should be guaranteed an interview too due to circumstances ;)

I sympathise mate. Time and time again when I was out of work I had agencies rush me in (spending money on travel I could ill-afford on JSA), force me to fill out paperwork that duplicates everything I've already given them on my CV, fill out a P46 and handover bank details, then send me away to await a phone call for a supposedly "imminent" start date & time that lo & behold, never comes. It's usually sheepishly explained away a week later when I finally get through to the consultant that sold me that raft of lies that they never had the job to offer me in the 1st place.

After having gone through that time and time again, to have your hopes so cruelly raised and dashed repeatedly when you're literally on your arse and desperate for work has made me very bitter toward agencies. In my estimation they're nothing but silver-tongued liars, manipulators and conmen!

Well called her earlier today to be told that I am starting tomorrow.

So wish me luck and should be able to get into Leeds on time if the snow doesn't get much worse. No car park or only limited spaces apparently so going to have to park car on the street and walk up. :)

Haven't been told much about the job it self yet just got the job description/title, and tests that they gave me to do which I passed. So not quite sure what to expect to be honest. :o

Know what you mean about agencies having a nightmare with them lately constantly ringing them up never answering their phones when they do we'll call you back then don't right pain in the arse but it seems most jobs are going through them now. Job centre seems a total waste of time and no help what so ever hate going there.

Rather strange first day. Sent us home earlier at about 2.30pm and traffic was awful coming out of Leeds but eventually got home.

Job wise - good so far, huge office, had introduction/learning a bit about the project and what to do etc. There was 10 of us so we were all new to what we were going to be working on.

Overall good with the chance of snow. :o

I can't believe what my daughters mate is going through at the moment.
Earlier this year he had a great job as a building site manager and within months he has lost both his home & car.
He is trying for every job going but Temp Agencies seem to be his best option but how they treat him is awful.
For instance last week he travelled 20 miles to do an assembly line packing job between 2pm and 10pm.
They asked him to come in the following morning at 6am and at 7am they sent him home (40 mile round trip for 1 hour).
At 3pm they rang him to do 8pm to 10pm that evening but he declined and I don't blame him.
He was rang this morning to go to a local DHL where he would be working from 3pm until 12 tonight but when he got there they told him they didn't need him.
Hopefully his luck changes tomorrow because I've got him a job at the hospital.
