Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Came back today from my assessment and interview i think it couldnt of gone better i was really awesome:D Now i just got to wait till end of august to mid september to see if i got the job or not:)

Got a new job last week after two interviews!! Totally chuffed as my commute will go from 3 hours a day (there and back) to 40 mins a day (there and back)!!! I'll have a life again....

I'm still looking for a new job.

I work in food retail and they have changed the rules a lot over the past year!

Everyone has to do a late(ish) shift i was rolled in to doing the hours below as i was off for just under a year due to knee operation. & now we are being forced to do checkout training too!

Contract hours

Sun - off
Mon - off
Tues 1-8pm
Wed 1-9pm
Thurs 1-9pm
Fri 10-7
Sat 10-7

Tuesdays once in a blue moon I can end up doing 10-6 and then I go to college for 2 hours after 7-9 & another colleague used to cover that shift whom is now pregnant and isn't able to cover, So i now can't attend college either! I have thought about dropping my hours to 31hrs but ill loose £200 a month(ish)

Now the shifts are killing my sole and relationship as im trying to plan a wedding too which is mission impossible as i only see the mrs for about 40hrs a week

:/

Been out of work for 6 months now, times are tough. I've got a 3rd interview with a company next week - meeting the MD and CTO.

I have a job interview for next tuesday. Chanced my luck for a junior graphic designer role, temp for 3months, but sadly due to leaving university I don't have a folio. So a huge fail on that part.

studied design for digital media so not like I had much graphic based work anyway, might wing it that way, 3rd year was all post video editing and such like, 2nd year was websites and CGI stuff.

nearly 4 months now and its doing my nut in, only good thing is if physio works i can go back to slowly crippling myself for min wage again. yay :/

Indeed, more people like you!

At these times a job is a job, when something 'more on your skillset' comes along, by all means go for that

Thankfully there are people out there with that mindset. The shop I work in gets a lot of CVs put in and one was a guy who had been on about £50k doing IT work.

Dunno if he'd be happy working for £14k and having to get dirty as ****!

I can say I'd have to have to get at least a few k extra to work for a bigger place over a small two man shop. I get so much more freedom, better chat and a more understanding boss. Less money but a lot less stress.

Indeed :)

Kind of how my job is at the moment, but im only on like 13k currently...Ideally if I was on 16k (if i was full time/working over the holidays) I would be on that...If I was things would be SO much easier

Going away for a good few months in October, job I was doing for the last 7 months, contract finished. Trying to find something temp just for 4-6 weeks but impossible. A part of me feels like just applying for full time jobs and then just leaving..but they wouldnt be happy lol

Getting at least 3 or 4 calls a week regarding jobs now.

After updating my CV it seems that a lot of places are after people who do what I do.

Only been here a couple of months but is tempting to see what else is on offer as they all seem to be paying quite a lot more (15 to 30% more), as well as being jobs where I won't have to rent a room during the week saving a lot of cash (currently paying my mortgage and rent, and my wage isn't that great!).

Finally found a new job. That was hard bloody work. Was properly looking for 4-5 months.

Well it's all official now, start on Monday. Bizarrely i'd got so disenchanted with the whole process and hadn't really checked them out - just done research on the job spec and got in on that. Turns out this company is in the industry of my childhood dream so pretty damn happy. (They googled my name and saw a whole bunch of my 3d graphics programming I think)

Great news mate congratulations, enjoy being back on the ladder :)

It's great, I always wanted to work at Jim Hensons Creature Shop as a kid, but it never happened but suddenly just fell into one of the best SFX companies in the world. Absolute accident, I had no idea until the wife and best mates told me who I worked for :)

Dont ask me for Doctor Who spoilers ;)

I had an Interview with IBM. It was a 10 hour assessment with a presentation, 3 groups tasks, 3 individuals tasks, a negotiation exercise and a test.

I did extremely well on all of them. I failed on the easiest and simplest task of them all, the negotiation task. It was 10 minutes d'oh :( I did drive stupid # of miles and I didn't sleep. Oh well it happens. After that I felt quite disheartened. What could possibly top what IBM had an offer?

Earlier today I was made a job offer for an exciting and growing software development firm. The best part? IBM would have been a 50 miles commute each way, totalling up to 1.5-2hrs journey each way.

This job? It took me 3 minutes from to door for the interview and approx 10-15 minutes by foot. Taking travelling costs into consideration. The pay package works out so much better!

So excited :D Been on the hunt since May. It's a difficult market to get into. A huge sigh of relief.

Note to those working. Always save well. I've been living on my savings and I've had a very comfortable ride. I hate to dread what it could have been like without that money.

looking for my first proper job having no luck at all.. any tips ? I'm looking for any position in IT no matter the pay really as long as i can get some experience

I've just left college finished my level 3 IT national Diploma, got quite a bit of experience in Graphics design(Working on portfolio) got some experience with java, html, php, 3d modelling, obviously computers, hardware, software etc etc.. but i can't even get an interview..

so with no PAID experience only volunteered work what position should i be looking at? pay is not a problem still with parents so gaining experience is what matters at the moment, i've applied for office junior positions, data entry positions - which don't even pay 10k per year.. but i did not even get an interview :( really loosing all the hope..

simply thinking of printing out my CV and applying anywhere - super markets, clothes shops, pc stores etc.. but do i actually have a chance getting a place there?!

can't study any further for now this has to be left for the future.

any tips appreciated - need to start somewhere.
