Former Russian double agent seriously ill in Salisbury.

So May has finally stated Russia is behind the attack. And watching the video of Putin's response when asked about Russia's involvement, you can just tell from his eyes and reaction he's hiding something.

What are the UK seriously going to do about this I wonder? If it's state sponsored is it officially considered an act of war?

It's not like we would win in a conflict with Russia is it?

The only way I could see us having any success were if the EU, USA and China all sides with us.

We need to see that first before we start throwing our weight around too much. I dont think Russia are as weak as SPG is making them out to be. They may be a wounded animal in some respect, but they are a wounded animal with huge military and nuclear capability.

They may have large military, but it's a 80s/90s era military that's crumbling. They like to say they have a huge modern military with new and shiny toys, but doesn't anyone find it at all suspicious that the majority of the new weapons programmes detailed by Putin last week were backed up by nothing more than hastily bodged together footage and CGI?

It's a good job our closest ally isn't a massive orange buffoon who's in with the Russians, oh no wait.

Still at least we can turn to our friends in Europe to have our backs, we've not thumbed our noses at them, oh god.

Still it's a good job we've been maintaing our military operational readiness and not letting it rot...oh no..

Their military is a very mixed bag. The last few years Putin has been trying to reverse the rot trading size for a core that is better equipped and better organised.

One thing I find a bit concerning is that what they are doing with their tanks seems to be largely dismissed by the west - while a lot of focus is on the T-90 and Armata and the costly issues there they've been quietly upgrading a lot of the older T-80s to a very different tank underneath even though it still looks like a T-80 outwardly.

I'd also be wary of taking details about their military capabilities at face value - "hastily bodged together footage and CGI" might be just that or it could be misdirection.

What are you expecting our "friends in europe" to do?

The only countries in Europe with any ability to engage Russia (I say engage, I mean commit mutual suicide) are the UK and France.

Germany couldnt do anything unless the orange buffoon gave them permision

Neither Britain's or Russians military are pussys as both have nukes and ways to deploy them, neither would kick off against either other because in the end.. the very end one is going to use em when there backs are against the wall.

Military action would be ridiculous, unwinnable, and not an appropriate response.

But it's interesting that Churchill could see the future threat and drew up plans for a surprise attack on Russia after WW2. We'd have lost that too :)

Don't get freaked out. Is your Twitter handle "The Distresser NBS"?

Well as far as actual action, not much. What you want though is political support. I think what you will find though is the response will be in line with how we are viewed internationally.

I think you'l find the response is bugger all.

Just like it was last time. And pretty much every time a state murders somone without getting caught in the act

Way i see it May has 3 things to do.
1, boycot the world cup - its only 3 games anyway not much point in england being there.
2, hack the crap out of them like they have us
3, send a sternly worded letter with fart on it to putin.
