Former Russian double agent seriously ill in Salisbury.

Without moving blame off Russia it's not like our own nation has clean hands when it comes to deaths of innocents caught up in these geo political chess games, one only needs look to Iraq, Libya and Syria and the millions either displaced from their homes or killed as a result of our own meddling in trying to overthrow regimes and destabilise those regions which are often friends with Russia.

I agree with you. Even without the Middle East, take last year's Manchester bombing along with other 'Muslamic' terrorist events in the run up to the general election. I think they were state-sponsored events that targeted young people. Younger people are more likely to vote left, and having them targeted by so-called 'Muslamics' / 'bloody ferrigners' is an attempt to make the young people start hating on immigrants and thus change their left or centre vote to a Tory vote.

Pointless loss of lives in the politics chess like you said.

And your evidence for this is what exactly?

It could be Polonium again as with Alexander Litvinenko.. Did you know that the cost of the polonium to kill Alexander Litvinenko cost approximately £20m? A sure signal to others not to cross Russia.

People think 'we', as in the west, are above reproach - but I can assure you 'we' are not. We are responsible for millions of deaths in the last 20-30 years alone, with the invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia, Syria - we shouldn't have been in ANY of these countries. Not taking into account the sanctions before that, for Iraq alone, killed over one million children before the invasion.

When you understand this you'll then start to understand why some peoples views on the world don't ideologically match with yours.

It was Fentanyl

Please tell me you’re not serious?

It was Fentanyl

Where did you hear that from? as i'd of thought naloxone would have been one of the first things the paramedics would have tried. It also wouldn't be a mystery to the doctors as they probably see opioid overdoses all the time. not to mention it would have shown up on the tox screen.

We'll have to wait and see where this leeds, but I would be surprised if their is a russian link, as it is certainly there M.O of assasinating oponents, both at home and abroard.

The symptoms being reported on the BBC sound more like the stereotypical ones for Curare or maybe Cyanide than something more exotic.

you wot...........

are you seriously suggesting that the right wing branch (swivel eyed comittee branch) ran a false flag mission involving killing its own "youth" citizens to simply make the young hate "brown coloured" people in an attempt to bolster the Tory vote from the youth at the next election.

Wow and people think I am mad saying good for Putin for knocking off traitors to the Russian state. LOL

It was Fentanyl, again...Fentanyl. Thats what the CDC and Fire Brigade went in for, nothing more, nothing less. Still serious enough though. The entire A&E department was evacuated.

Wasn't saying you were wrong, though its not been confirmed at this point, just saying the [reported] symptoms are more like something along those lines than something more exotic like Polonium.

Wasn't it a weaponised analogue of Fentanyl that the Russians used, with their usual 'we don't give a ****' attitude, to kill free all those hostages in the theatre siege in Moscow?

Heh strange coincidence - was just reading, after this thread, the thread about where someone works going into administration and googled the address of what would have been the first job I ever worked ("Langler House Market Place Somerton") except I turned up on the first day to find the doors closed to try and find information on what happened back then - hit news to see if there was any back stories on it and the first hit was "Police: Men arrested with enough fentanyl to kill 18 million people".

Yes it was, and the reason so many died was due to them not passing on the information to the medics. The russians just don't put the same value on life as we in the west do. Their's some evidence from several different sources which point to the fsb and not Chechen terrorists as being responsible for the appartment bombings in 2000. Which was used to bulster support for the second Chechen war.

Ofcourse anything negative towards the russian government is russiaphobia and couldn't posibly be true.....

I do so love the media reporting that our foreign secretary promises a stern response if Russia is proved to he involved, yeah right, a bit of finger wagging perhaps, even a little bit if tut tutting but anything stronger not a hope in hell.

Hey, BoJo has also said he might boycott the World Cup. Obviously the team will still play but I'm sure the lack of UK politicians will really make Vlad think again......

Perhaps the Antifa mob could try and find their way to Russia and storm a Kremlin debate wearing their cute masks? Instead of a kids' debate at some one horse university.... ;)

Heard it on R4. Not sending a few delegates to the world cup. I bet Russia is laughing its head off.
Also said what ever sanctions we had in place against them was practically worthless.
It's hard to punish another nation when you are reliant on their energy supplies. Germany is smart and knows this.
The whole things a joke tbh.
One guy suggested funding the Ukraine rebels more.... Yes hi there, ww3 over 1 dead traitor. Who cares. Britain has no clout on this. Just accept it. It's no loss at all just embarrassing.

When I was driving into work just now somebody on BBC radio made the point that if this does have something to do with the Russian government then this is the first ever incident of a British spy or ex spy being assassinated on British soil by another state after having been traded back to us in exchange for one of their own spies. The reason this type of thing never happens is because if states went around assassinating prisoners after their return then it would devalue the whole system for all sides.

Will be interesting to see how this case plays out.
