Former Russian double agent seriously ill in Salisbury.

I might yes, although I think we're probably on different parts of the political spectrum. I'm guessing Noams politics must align somewhere with these types of people otherwise why would they mention him.

He's generally regarded as one of the top philosophers and critical thinkers of modern times iirc

Somewhere on the libertarian / socio-anarchic scale iirc so not really a connection with islamic fundamentalists directly, and Noam is quoted by a lot more people than them! :)

So do Boris/May have any courage of their convictions - nothing on any Russian financial restrictions ? from USA action, some of Oleg Deripaska companies shares, fell 50%

they seem quiet on the Syrian gas use, the evidence seems compelling on the culprit (although I did not understand why the syrians/russians did not immediately name Israel for their 'retaliation') so expect to see some reaction.

Eh? They've not been quite and Russia did name Israel?

Do you even watch/pay attention to the news?

The chlorine gas attack has been on a lot (as it has every time Assad has used it, or when "unknown parties" have barrel bombed civilians), they had it on the news repeatedly last night.

*Unknown parties that couldn't possibly be Assad, using helicopters that may or may not have been seen taking off from Assad's military facilities, n Assad controlled airspace to indiscriminately bomb areas that were in rebel hands/supported anyone other than him

Such faux outrage, there's a civil war going on, he does what he needs to do like we did when we fire bombed Hamburg to the extent the canals boiled and men women and children were roasted alive. We and our American allies killed 42,600 civilians and wounded 37,000 in Hamburg and destroyed most of the city, but it crippled German armament production and submarine activity though and helped bring things to a faster conclusion. War ain't nice....

Would you be happy with genocide if it ended wars quicker? Where do you personally draw the line?

Tribal wars involve genocide, it's that simple. And the west aren't going to stop tribal wars in these regions, whether for altruistic or financial / power reasons. Let `em get on with it, the west has meddled often enough with the situation ending worsened.

we seem to be perfectly happy with it in Yemen, considering our illustrious, faux outraged leader seems perfectly happy selling munitions and military hardware that is being used directly against civilians by the Saudi's. But I don't see Either Maybot or Trump calling them animals ?

This really does make you wonder.

The complete anti Russia propaganda for the last few years.
Salisbury incident massive Russia fallout and now the victims are both discharged.
Trump hints at pulling out of Syria.
Then almost immediately after a new chemical weapons attack.

I cannot see why Assad at this near end stage would use chemical weapons. He knows the stakes.

This whole thing absolutely stinks. I will be fuming if they go in.

Do we have any proof of the Syrian gas attacks either? We seem to be making quite a habit of presuming guilt immediately without the faintest hint of any kind of thorough investigation.

None of it ever makes sense basically if you are not subservient to western power then you are a target.

You have to remember they have been desperate for regime change in Iran and Syria for quite some time, they normally always get what they want, except this time Russia is in the way and they cannot bully Russia into submission like they could with all the others, hence the need to constantly demonize them via the media.

Russia claimed that the UK had denied consular access to Yulia Skripal. Now Yulia has confirmed that this is a lie: she refused consular assistance.

The daughter of a former Russian spy poisoned in a suspected nerve agent attack alongside her father has refused help from the Russian embassy.

In a statement issued on her behalf by British police, Yulia Skripal confirmed earlier reports she had rejected an offer of assistance from the embassy as she and her father Sergei recover from last month's attack.

"I have access to friends and family, and I have been made aware of my specific contacts at the Russian Embassy who have kindly offered me their assistance in any way they can," she said.

"At the moment I do not wish to avail myself of their services, but, if I change my mind I know how to contact them."

That's funny, because your own source uses "granted" not "denied", making it no lie just a statement of fact (until such time as the situation changes/changed). You also don't know when she is alleged to have not taken up the offer, or when exactly she was first informed of the offer. Could be a couple of weeks, could be today. And that's because these dodgy statements delivered on her behalf contain so little information.

The Russian embassy in London has previously said it had not been granted consular access to the 33-year-old woman.

It will no doubt reassure her cousin immensely to receive news that Yulia does not wish to be contacted or visited by her, through a statement delivered by the police, instead of Yulia picking up the phone and telling her: don't call me and don't try to visit.

In such extraordinary circumstances, the right of the embassy to have access to Yulia, is equally as important as Yulia having access to the embassy. So they can verify she is alive and well, and is freely expressing her wish not to engage with the embassy any further.

Yeah that would be a great idea, send some diplomats from the country that just tried to kill her... I'm sure she'd love that. Also the pressure to be even more of a pawn in their PR games, veiled threats etc..etc..

She's already had a phone conversation with her cousin apparently... and look how that turned out - it was all recorded and used as part of the Russian propaganda campaign, I'm sure Yulia was thrilled with her cousin for that too.

You're also wrong about the Russian claims - this was a question by them:

"Why has Russia been denied consular access to the two Russian nationals, Sergei and Yulia Skripal, that have become crime victims in the British territory?"

What she'd like or not like cannot be allowed to take precedence in such a serious situation, even though her well-being and feelings must be taken into account. She is still a Russian citizen. As long as her safety is ensured during a brief meeting, which ought to be a simple thing, she can take a couple of minutes to inform consular staff herself.

Yeah that didn't go so well for the UK state propaganda (including finding out Sergei was doing well before Salisbury hospital confirmed it 24 hours later, and telling her cousin that they wouldn't give her a visa), so no more phone calls.

Nonsense, it is completely up to her, she doesn't owe anything to the people who tried to kill her.

Well exactly so why would anyone want to pander to that sort of nonsense again.

the word used by Russia was denied:

Nope. You're confusing things. The post by Evangelion was about Yulia's right to consular access. What you have quoted is about Russia's right to have access to Yulia.
