Former Russian double agent seriously ill in Salisbury.

So using stuff the USSR did in WW2 as an example of why the Russian Federation is bad is stupid. It's just like saying Brexit negotiators shouldn't trust anything the EU say because Hitler and Napoleon negotiated in bad faith, or saying that we should be friends with Russia now and oppose France and the USA with them like we did in Napoleon's day, applying unrelated history from a century or more ago to modern politics/countries is dumb.

They invaded Afghanistan, toppled the existing government, and imposed a Soviet-backed puppet government which oppressed the Afghans. They then propped up this puppet government with Soviet military forces.
Wrong, the Afghan government was already Soviet friendly (like Cuba/etc) hence why it was targeted by the USA (friend of my enemy is my enemy, etc), the US armed/funded/trained Islamic fundamentalist insurgents (who would later become the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, so that worked out great lol) to otherthrow the government which lead to the USSR sending troops to support it's ally.

The entire thing was engineered by the USA in order to draw the USSR into "it's own Vietnam" and it worked spectacularly, it was one of the main catalysts of the breakup of the USSR.

No, Russia illegally annexed South Ossetia
Russia don't control South Ossetia, it's been a self governing independent state since 1991 when the USSR broke up.

If he wasn't on a kremlin hit list before, he most certainly will be now. If the 1000s of mourners or his wife don't lynch him first.

It's a weird story one way or another! :D

Mr Hrytsak alleged that Russian security services had recruited a Ukrainian citizen to find hitmen within the country. He said the citizen approached several acquaintances, including war veterans, offering $30,000 for the contract killing, one of whom revealed the plot to the security services.

They say they have made one arrest from the sting, time to keep an eye on any future news about this one
