That’s standard Xenforo behaviour, we just didn’t have it previously.

Just to give the reason behind that - Xenforo uses square avatars by default and not only that, it then normally masks those behind a circle.

Because our avatars are rectangles, the templates have to be individually tweaked to account for the shape so every time you see an avatar, we’ve had to go in and adjust the style. There will be the odd place we’ve missed it and I actually spotted that one last night :)

Changing the way they display from circles to the full image was also challenging.

I don’t think I’ve seen any other instance of Xenforo where the default style has been modified as much as ours. It’s not just complicated, it’s really complicated!

Remember we’re effectively trying to make the forum look as close as possible to a very old version of Vbb but with all the features of the latest Xenforo implemented.

If you turn off avatars there's no easy way to see who's online, not a big deal for me as I have avatars on, but anyone who has them off loses that functionality. Not sure if it's been mentioned already.

I seem to remember when the last big update was done, it was eventually changed to be how that user asks. How else can you get to the first page? Why not have both the option, click title takes you to first page/post, and envelope takes you to newest post.

Does turning them off on mobile, also turn them off on desktop? Sad if so.

My memory tells me that avatars were always off on mobile previously, no matter what was selected on the desktop version. In fact, that's already been raised in the first post so is on the list to be sorted. Avatars on mobile should be permanently off but selectable on desktop.

I did mention it this morning when I noticed it myself, but no harm in mentioning it again.

I remember it was at the towards the top of the box as a triangle yeah, iirc, no idea if it worked with it avatars on/off back then or if it was part of the avatar element.

Loading the OCUK forum site when coming from Google (or any other third party site, bing/youtube link etc) shows this error if you have an adblocker enabled.
It seems to happen only when you have your Adblocker enabled on the site you're coming from, so if you have your AdBlocker enabled on Google, but Disabled on OCUK it'll continue to happen.

I'm using uBlock Origin (1.42.4) on Chrome (Version 101.0.4951.41).

Is this intended? Not a big deal to me personally as I don't use Google to find the forums lol, just thought it was worth mentioning.

Which new option causes this "blurring" effect on the text which disappears when clicked? I thought that the new software's Spoilers still looked the same as previous one (click to Spoiler button to display the unseen text) so is this something new?

A new one, the Text Underline option is "hidden" in the triple dot (more) section which is a pain to use, can it be brought onto the toolbar by a user or would that be a system change required?

something like that, though i can't remember for sure as i had custom themes.

i've had a look and how it currently is, it's impossible to get online indicator when avatars are hidden, as the online indicator is within the hidden element. it used to be before the update, that the whole box had a class like .online to it, and then anything within that could be styled to say if the parent is .online, then show this, do this colour etc.

below is imo how it should be done, it's how i had it before, and is the simplest, clearest way to show that person is online.

Yeah this looks a lot better than how it currently is, it's way harder now than it was before to quickly identify if someone is online or not.
 
Been a few days now. I very rarely complain about changes but the mobile version of the site is a bit pants. Far too busy, no page counts on index pages, and when someone quotes a post, the quoted person's username gets highlighted along with the little "jump to post" arrow button. It constantly looks like I've highlighted something and won't go away.

Desktop version is ace though.
