Forza 5 Announced

Wow how has a great franchise fallen so quickly. Online balance aside (Number 2 was the best for me). F4 was the best console sim going and blew GT5 out of the water.

I feel like a plonker now as I have just renewed my live subscription and am being pushed more towards the other camp.

It seems to me you are purchasing a beta for full retail while spending even more to get a complete game.

Limited Edition or day one edition?

Forza 3 LE was one of the few LEs that was worth it but im not sure on this one, i thought VIP was the season pass for a second but it isn't.

Limited Edition

With multiple car packs, VIP membership privileges, and packed-in content, the Forza Motorsport 5 Limited Edition is the ultimate package. The Limited Edition features the all-new 2014 Audi RS 7 Sportback in addition to three digital content packs. Forza Motorsport 5 Limited Edition owners will receive a custom Steelbook case; Forza Motorsport 5, Xbox One, and Audi window decals; and 1,250 car tokens (a $9.99 value) that will allow Limited Edition owners instant access to any car in the game.
The cars featured in the Limited Edition Car Pack and the Day One Edition Car Pack have been customized with unique Xbox One liveries and feature custom tunes designed by the developers at Turn 10 to improve performance above their stock counterparts. The stock versions of these cars will also be available on disc.
Limited Edition Car Pack

This five-car pack features new cars that are already destined for legendary status. Each car in the Limited Edition Car Pack will feature a Limited Edition livery and will be tuned to the top of its respective class.
  • 2011 Audi RS 3 Sportback — More than a mere grocery-getter, the RS 3 Sportback marries performance with practicality. The result is a 340-horsepower grin-generator that will paste your head to the back of the seat and not crack a single egg in the process.
  • 2012 Aston Martin Vanquish — As comfortable on the track as it is on cozy country lanes, the Aston Martin Vanquish is equal parts refined style and snarling, road-taming grit.
  • 2013 Ford M Shelby Mustang GT500 — While the GT500’s aggressive lines suggest raw power and straight-line speed to spare, the sound of that big 5.8-liter V8 simply screams, “Get out of the way!”
  • 2013 McLaren P1 — The successor to McLaren’s legendary F1, the McLaren P1 is an automotive highlight reel: technological innovation, gorgeous contours, and pure, unapologetic performance. Epic, legendary, astounding – words tend to fail when describing this car’s limitless potential.
  • 2013 SRT Viper GTS — The return of the Viper has been celebrated by automotive fans worldwide. With an 8.4-liter V10 that’s capable of pushing the GTS to a top speed north of 200 mph, the 2013 Viper GTS has once again firmly entrenched its spot near the top of the American Muscle hierarchy.
VIP Membership

Forza Motorsport 5 VIPs enjoy exclusive benefits, including double player reward acceleration, access to exclusive multiplayer events, an exclusive in-game player card badge, and in-game gifts from the Forza community team.* VIPs will also have access to the VIP Car Pack featuring five amazing cars.
  • 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C — Marketed as “the fastest streetcar in the world,” the 427 S/C is the most desirable of all the Shelby Cobra variants. Out of the 100 that were planned only 53 were built. They are nothing less than a purpose-built race car converted at the last minute for street use.
  • 1987 RUF CTR Yellowbird — Dubbed the “Yellowbird” by journalists during a test drive event, the 1987 RUF CTR Yellowbird earns its name thanks to the canary-like chirping of its twin turbo blow-off valve. Just 29 of these cherished classics were built.
  • 1991 Mazda #55 787B — One of the most beloved race cars of all time, the 787B holds the distinction as being Japan’s only winner of a 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Featuring a brash green and orange livery and an unmistakable screaming Wankel rotary engine, the 787B continues to inspire more than 20 years after its debut.
  • 2011 Ford F150 SVT Raptor — Say hello to your rear view mirror's worst nightmare. The Raptor is essentially a factory-built pre-runner race truck with suspension to match its under-the-hood muscle. Slide it, jump it, whatever you like — it just begs for more.
  • 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport — Even among hypercars, the Veyron Super Sport stands alone. After all, this is the car that currently holds the Guinness record for “World’s Fastest Car” at speeds approaching 270 mph.
Day One Car Pack

This three-car pack features amazing cars from Lamborghini, Audi, and Ford; each with a Day One-themed livery and custom tuning package.
  • 2010 Audi TT RS Coupe — Stuffed stem to stern with modern tech, the TT RS is the first TT model to carry Audi’s famed RS badge — a distinction that’s earned on the track from the moment you step on the gas.
  • 2013 Ford Focus ST — Debuting with the same 247-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine from the much larger Ford Explorer SUV, the new Ford Focus ST packs a serious punch.
  • 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera — Like great sculpture, the Superleggera’s chiseled form is carefully considered for maximum impact. That’s where the similarities end, however, because this work of art is best appreciated when it’s moving at top speed.

yeah i have the LE reserved but im having OMG im spending 600 odd pounds moments this week. I guess £10 isnt going to make that much diffrence.

Thought I'd post this from http://www.oxm.co.uk/65749/forza-5-wouldnt-have-been-1080p-60fps-without-access-to-xbox-ones-cloud/

orza Motorsport 5 owes its 1080p visuals and 60 frames a second performance to Microsoft's furnishing Turn 10 with easy access to scalable servers, creative director Dan Greenawalt has told OXM. The ability to tap into Xbox Live Compute has allowed the developer to lavish more time and resources on the game's visuals and complex physics systems; without this advantage, it would have "struggled" to achieve Forza 5's final resolution.

"A lot of it comes down to how easy it is to tap into things like the cloud," Greenawalt told our contributor Richard Wordsworth, when he asked why the game was "only possible on Xbox One", as billed during a recent trailer (below). "But first off, it's a bespoke engine, so the engine will only run on Xbox One. So that's the freebie answer.

"The reason we say that, though, is because we could have done cloud-powered opponents last generation, but we would have had to have done all the infrastructure," he continued. "Now with Xbox One we get servers, we get Azure, we get Thunderhead, and it's so easy to plug into."
Microsoft's Azure server network "allows you to bring a lot of computational power and server bandwidth to bear," Greenawalt explained. "It scales automatically and you don't have to write for it, so it's an instant server. It's basically a technology that allows you to do cloud computing very cheaply and very easily. It just automatically scales for the amount of people.

"That is really easy to hook up to with the [software development kit] for the Xbox One platform, that allows us to focus our resources in coming up with fun and innovative features, rather than making backend infrastructure. That frees up a lot of people.

"So, would [cloud AI] have been possible last generation? Sure. And last generation we could have done 1080p, 60fps. But we wouldn't have been able to do that and the physics we did in Forza 4. So Forza 4 was 720p and 60fps, with the physics we had. Now we're doing things in the physics that requires so much more computational power, we would have struggled to be 720p, 60fps."

Asked to clarify that Turn 10's ready access to the cloud has allowed it to spend more time improving Forza 5's resolution and physics, Greenawalt responded: "Right. And that's what's allowed us to, in three years, have a game that has innovation like Drivatar, looks beautiful as well as having the new things we're doing in physics, like the tyres and suspension."

Turn 10's creative director has previously suggested that next generation innovation is partly about what you can't see - the AI, the physics, and the streamlining of the development practises necessary to create a game like Forza 5. The new racer is apparently the "hardest thing Turn 10 has ever done".

You can read more about the game's server-run opposition care of our Forza 5 Drivatar feature. As for Xbox Live Compute in general, this constitutes free access to dedicated multiplayer servers for all developers, among other things.
Now im not going to doubt the infinite power of cloud, but how would this affect those players without a decent connection?

Just got me wondering in previous Forza games. I know assists like traction control and automatic transmission would slow your car down but what about the racing line? Did that have any effect on the car?

Probably explains why they have static environmental lighting as Xbox compute could be doing it - always wondered if the Sun is gonna be in the same spot every time you play the same track or if they moved it for each replay and just told Xbox compute where it is to pre-light the environment while the track loads locally.

ps3ud0

That's really disappointing, I didn't realise there was going to less tracks and Suzuka and the Nurburgring are two of my favorites.

Forza is the only reason I'm buying the Xbone and assumed it would be in terms of tracks/cars the same or similar to the last. If they didn't have time to do half of the tracks then don't release the game until they have had time.. of course that wouldn't happen as it needed to be a release title so basically we end up with half of the game so MS can say they've got another release title. If they didn't have time to scan the tracks etc then why not put some original tracks in it?

What is there had better extra special or I'm going to be really disappointed come Nov 22nd.

Well I hear Nordschleife will come around January as DLC and of course I'm sure you are aware of the car packs that they release every month so expect at least another 120 cars from that. Although I really hope they bring in several tracks as DLC! Let us hope within the next 2 weeks they announce something special!

As I said earlier, if I knew for sure they'd put several tracks in the Season Pass as well as the cars, I'd buy it without much thought. Hopefully that's something they'll confirm in the near future.

what! no nordschleife? i just knew fm5 was gonna be a carp rush job, no day/night cycle etc. a re-scan of the ring should have been a priority years ago, idiots.

nest gen/this coming gen is a stinking pile of pile, can't waint for xbox numbers two, or meybe three, less NSA.

edit, next console i'm buying is a 360 when my 360 dies.

This did look good but now looks like a husk of what it was :(

Atleast project cars is coming to xbone/ps4. When the greats get greedy and slacken the pace that's when the competition comes from nowhere and does them.

Just wait until it's reviewed/released for goodness sake. It might be he best thing you've ever known or it might not but stop judging it before you've even played it.
