Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

Thats a fair point tbh,

Personally now I have the graphics working properly I have found myself really enjoying it. Maybe I am just easily pleased?. I really didn't get on with 7 at all but this really has managed to capture my interest in FM again for the first time since 4 (which is still the best one imo). Wouldn't ever say it's without its issues though.

Played 100 odd hours on GT7 and I think it's lacking vs. that as you say in several areas and overall polish but I think that with patches and future content this has the potential to be pretty great.

It's a shame it's fallen into the 2023 sea of "average" that is what seems to be most game releases this year.....then again I am enjoying starfield too lol! See my easily pleased comment above :p

Yeh Starfield was disappointing but I still enjoyed it somewhat.

For me, Forza Motorsport just isn't "Motorsport" enough. I don't play online and like a good single player career. This just feels too much like Horizon but with real race tracks. I don't like that even in the single player, all the competitors have stupid gamertag names like "oogleboogle69420!!:)".

For me, they are just going backwards in terms of the single player and the "Motorsport" name.

We already have Horizon for silly names and short races and a focus on the online element.

I have played horizon to death and it's great in its own right but in same vein as you I want a "Motorsport"

I guess the names come in the form of the whole drivertar thing but with the AI being fairly dumb at the moment and at times being on rails, not sure that's enabled .....

Rivals however is so much fun! I'm hooked

glitches galore today, one race all i could see was the grass, going through gears but just grass on side of track, next race entire lobby stuck in a death loop, countdown to 1 secs and infinite loop, next race crashed to desktop, plus i got a huge penalty for someone driving into my rear end  so give i up today:cry:

Downloaded it and played it today.

Meh, I'm pretty disappointed with the graphics, I was expecting something more akin to what I've seen on gt7.

It's ok, but as others said it seems a bit horizon esque and I'm really not keen on the car tuning model.

I've got 3 cars now all at level 20 and can't tune them more unless I redo the same championships,

I prefer the old way of doing things tbh.

The game doesn't seem to have moved on since previous Forza Motorsport.

Oh also the engine sounds , where on earth have they found them.. the Audi rs3 sounds like a fart in a tin, it's Ruddy awful, and the Sierra cosworth doesn't sound a great deal better

yeah i loved Bathhurst, maybe a DLC down the line. i see ramming hasnt changed, the penalty system is a joke, lost count how many times ive been hit off yet no penalties, or they go into you and you get a penalty

im finding my gpu utilisation all over the place, just popped onto spa getting 50-80% for the 3070 @ 1440p nativbe, high settings, cpu is around 40%. surely that aint right??

I've been playing this a bit, on Game Pass, 18 hours in fact. It's only crashed once and I've not seen any graphical glitches. I don't think it's a bad as many say.

That said - I'm not quick! Typically on an online game, just did the Silverstone National Circuit with touring cars, There'll be half a dozen players with lap times around 1:00 or 1:01 then there'll be me and the next half dozen players around 1:04 or 1:05. How can I get three seconds faster?!

I'm using a controller - regarding the assists I have ABS and traction control on 'sport'... Would I be faster with fewer assists and just getting better?

i use controller, you can easily improve, every lap you find you can gain time, but most importantly is tuning your car, especially gears, im not technically minded and no idea, but i use the free forza tune app, if you pay you get gear settings iirc you can gain bucketful of time with right setup.
also cornering, get you lines right, slow in fast out, a lot of folk go too fast into corners esp in MP you can gain so many places as they go into corners wayyy too fast im not that good, but have been playing racing games for 30 plus yrs, if not longer as 55 now

Hmm... I haven't touched tuning, just not interested in it! I think I tend to have way too much steering input - often have controller stick 100% and understeer round corners.

I'm convinced the understeer problem is controller related rather than anything to do with setup or physics.

It feels like the game's logic is incorrectly limiting how much the wheel is turned - this is obviously necessary with an analog stick, but I'm sure there's something wrong with how it's implemented here. What's noticeable is that lifting-off the throttle doesn't have the immediate effect you'd expect, the wheel stays at exactly the same angle. I've found moving the stick up and down along the edge of the x-axis can help to suddenly steer more, which makes no sense.

I did use DI view to confirm I was getting 100% input on the axis, and definitely am.

ii dont have issue with mine, on basic tune, there is huge understeer, but can be tuned out quite easily i found, plus all depends how much power you have through the front wheels. the free forza app is a god send tbh

more i play this game the more its ******, its a mess, you cant even buy a car without constant freezes during multiplayer, graphics that seem to change on the fly even though locked to high/med, just played a MP locked to 30fps and looked like a 480p game from yester year  glad i didnt buy the game, its pure dogshite at this moment in time

Trying this out whilst I've got a Gamepass trial, initially wasn't impressed with a few things but it's growing on me. I've not touched multiplayer yet, but finding the driving experience to be decent. It seems to have the right sim vs arcade balance to play with a gamepad right now - which is what I wanted.
Now I've come to accept the Career forcing you into a limited car selection at the start, my main frustration is just how **** poor some of the ingame sound is. I remember Forza 4 having brilliant car sounds, and different upgrades would subtly (or unsubtly) change that, adding a lot of interest. But right now, pretty much every car I've driven has sounded pretty dull, even things that I know sound decent in real life like the Jag F-Type V8, Audi RS5 and Ferrari F40. They sound muted and dull. I'd question whether they screwed up all the game sounds, but some of the AMG Mercs sound decent, and the EP3 Civic Type R sounds spot on.

I've hardly touched it since buying it.

Think it needs a lot more patching.

Just a heads up as I never realised until yesterday that the open series career has an expire date of 6 days left. Just in case anyone was working through career

Yeah I noticed this yesterday. Not sure what will actually happen. Kinda frustrating that the series of races I actually want to take part in are going and I might just be stuck with being forced into specific car choices to do more career mode. Just adds to the frustration I already have with all the career races being so short you can barely get into any rhythm.
