I've given up on it now. I'll come back to it in a year or so see if anything changes. Tried to play last weekend, but handling model/wheel settings are still unplayable on the DD wheel for me. I'm not interested in playing on gamepad.
 
2 more days of my Gamepass trial, and I've got the day off. So figured I'd jump in for a few races to kill some time.
None of the MP race events appeal, do one race against AI with a solid 60+ fps. Then every race I start after that I'm not even hit 30 fps, despite negligable GPU load. This game's optimisation is hot trash.
 
not missing much on MP, full of idiots, best to start at back tbh and work through, first corner is always insanity :cry: and the games optimisation is no existent, dont think they bothered at all, bring back the open lobbies, sick of these set lobbies
 
Got this via the Game Pass trial.

I was hoping for a multiplayer experience similar to the GT7 Sport mode, in which I put in 100+ hours, but it's completely the opposite.

I have an S safety rating and the races are just wreckfests, with really dirty driving and people intentionally looking to take you out.
I'm using the CSL DD wheel and the games default settings were poor. I have managed to tweak them a little bit so they feel much better now.

I hope the kids playing the online mode get bored eventually and move on...
 
it was woeful this morning, its more bumper cars than racing,my S rating went to a C in 2 races and i didnt hit one person, was constantly booted off, got over 8secs penalty for being booted off track twice :eek: , so can see genuine racers getting fed up with it all
 
Not sure where to start with this game but my god what an utter mess this thing is!

- Car handling is terrible
- Graphics on a high end PC look like a game from 10 years ago, jaggies all over, poor textures/detail. The cars look half decent at best. A mile away from what they promised, optimisation is appalling.
- Bugs - terrible we are now 3 patches in and some basic features STILL don't work or new bugs are introduced, online replays still don't save. Latest bug I noticed was it now glitches out and only gives you seconds to adjust fuel/tyres online before dumping you into the race.
- Handling on steering wheels is truly awful
- As above online is full of bumper cars, had the same guy literally ramming me off the track last night no penalty at all, race totally ruined by bad drivers.

It pales in every way to GT7 imo, it's a poor man's version at best. MS should be ashamed to release this shambles after the amount of time they claimed was spent on this and 3 patches in it seems to get worse every time and they still can't fix bugs from day one. Thank god I play this on gamepass, I would feel cheated if I had paid full price. They need to hand this over to the Horizon devs, who actually know how to make a decent racing game.

That sucks, but it's all it deserves considering the quality of the game. Still don't know what Microsoft were going for.

Feels like they've tried to get the "PvP" sim racing crown from some elements of the game, at the expense of the more casual fun experience. Yet utterly failed to deliver on both accounts. It's a real shame :(
 
Yeah, I had such hope for the game. Especially how they had been advertising it, and describing what they had been doing.
Will be interesting to see exactly how it went so wrong, in youtube video essays several years from now. :D
