Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

Early days yet but just had 2 hours of game time and liking it so far... no issues to report yet and the game is maxed out with RT enabled and getting 109.2 fps.

Picked the Civic Type R as my starter and don't feel the next to tune yet as beating the AI on max difficulty, also love the corner mastery and practice objectives as it makes you work that car in the corners!

I'm considering getting the Forza Motorsport Premium Add-Ons Bundle, I have £20 credit on a games site and have gamepass, normally wouldn't but am severely tempted rather than wait :D

4 hours in and enjoying it so far.

Started dabbling with the tuning and will no doubt head to rivals soon to quickly level up. Aiming to break that top 10 in B class but not sure if the Civic is the one yet?

Going to play around later with the PI and add ballast, will make car heavy but will then give me the options of adding race tyres and more aero, although I do prefer this new Car Points system... lost millions in credits on parts only to find later I needed to change my build again.

Anyone else having Crash to desktop issues? Mine is crashing at the "rewards" page after every race.

Playing through Xbox store on Pc, all latest drivers running on Windows 11, RX7900XTX, 7800X3D, 64GB Ram, Crucial T700
Might be helpful to let others know I've found a fix, after I found other people complaining about this exact issue, the fix seems to be to reduce the res from 4k down to 1440p, and that works for me. I then tried 1800p, which works, and now im back up at 4k which is working perfectly seems to run nicely at ~135fps, drops to about 100 when the full field of cars is in front of me.

Given it some more time today and now really enjoying it. The parts unlock thing seems not too annoying and liking the handling model. Chose the civic type R as my starter car but I have just treated myself to a Mustang GT350R :)

It is more of the same to some degree, but has some nice extra additions on top

AI is full on clown level stupid in this, theres one thing to drive like you arnt there... that at least is predictable and I can work with that. To veer across the track to actively block/smash me... Brake check me half way down the Kemmel straight... constantly moving in braking zones... Rammed full force up the back end when I'm on the racing line and made the corner perfectly. Its almost like they studied the Forza 7 public lobbies to get inspiration for the driving style and behavior for the AI. Utterly terrible effort.

On the plus side, after a lot of tweeking I've settled on a steering/FFB setup that works for me, well at least its providing consistent feel and predictability now. Still think it feels completely unnatural and unintuitive. Its something I can work with though.

Gave the first round of the track day feature race a go, decided to go for the S2000, In practice I was trying lap after lap to get the bonus task, I just couldnt get within about 1/2 sec of the target time. I was so bemused and just got on with the race, wasnt until half way through I realised "Wait! its got VTech!!!" and err yeah, straight away over a sec per lap faster!:o

I set thst to 100.

Normally Vsync is either on or off.
After watching the Digital Foundry video, apparently i was wrong, its locked to your desktop max refresh rate even if you set it to unlimited.
Very strange, MS like to be different don't they, but the DF Vid helped me sort some of my minor issues.

Just need to get some good wheel settings for a CSL-DD now, cause transitioning is a little sudden still.

Did the intro series and a couple races last night. The AI hit me hard in the side on two or three occasions last night, with one just pit manoeuvring me into the wall at the final corner. One of them I was given a two second penalty for, whereas the car which hit me got 0.5s penalty.

Between the AI, the ridiculous car point system and how slow they've made getting to races now, it's not bad. :D

Jeez, you need to restart the game every time you change settings?

What a crock, no wonder I was getting excessive framerimes and screwy results.

I wondered why the game ran better the next time I restarted it.

Yeah this one threw me as well, I'd change setting have it run like ass, then next time I started the game it ran fine with the same settings.

I know I'm not running an average PC (13700k,4090), but cranked at 4k it runs the internal benchmark at around 90fps with DLSS off and 120 with it on. and the benchmark reports 2-3 "stutters" but i dint notice them but my panel is gsync so wouldn't expect to.

I'm happy with the game, my mates on xbox series x are happy. I'd be happier if i could get my bleedin wheel feeling right.

When I first played last night performance was awful (i9-139KF 3070Ti 3440*1440) and yes I know it's time to upgrade the graphics card :)

Started it up today and performance has gone silky smooth and everything feels really responsive. Enjoying it so far.
