Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

All the reviews I looked at seemed to suggest it's a good starting platform for the future.

Which makes me think it's not really a good game now or gets boring fast.

They believe it will be worth it at some point in the future once you've paid for a bunch of DLC and the games more fleshed out..

I'm holding out for the game pass release on the 10th

Well I gotta say, mixed feelings at the moment. Runs like ass on my PC ([email protected]/3070/32gb ram), had to turn down graphics a fair bit. Looks decent though. Cars are very very hit and miss, however seems like there is a huge tendency towards massive understeer and requiring massive amounts of lock to get the car turning. Cars dont handle naturally at all, FFB/wheel settings require work. There is no doubting that its still firmly on the arcade side of "Simcade", I was kinda hoping they would shift that slider to the right a bit. AI is problematic, they like to turn in on you like you dont exist, and thats not just me they do it to other AI players as well, whats really frustrating is how they just love to move in the braking zones when you have already committed to the gap. All that said, I feel like there is potential there though, its fun and looks like there is a decent career to play though. Good selection of cars and tracks and the car level upgrade unlocker thing isnt as much of a chore as I thought it might be, still rather be without it though.

I got fed up playing with FFB settings, I'm got it in an just about acceptable place for now. However if anyone see's any Moza R5/9 configs floating about on forums etc please put a link in here.

I'm gonna have dinner than get another could have hours in before bed.

The reviews haven't sold it to me yet, but I might grab a month of Gamepass to give it a shot along with some of the other games there that I want to try. I'm wanting a modern Forza Motorsport 4, if it's got the car modding and tuning I liked there, plus a range of tracks to hotlap around I'll be pretty happy. But so far, I've not seen much discussion around that side of the game, it's all about how it comes as a multiplayer experience versus other racing games. Granted I would do that too! Many fun memories playing FM4 back in the day on Xbox360 with others in the OcUK community.

Just fired it up for first time. Seems to run pretty lovely at ultrawide 3440x1440 at near enough solid 60 on my 6800 so that's nice. That's with FSR @ Quality and everything else set to ultra.

Not amazed quite yet, feels very tried and tested formula, hoping it grips me more than 7 did

It's defo.got some big shoes to fill to beat GT7

Note there is no in game setting for Vsync...of it's on by default, then that's lost performance.

Awful frametime in this.

Anyone else having Crash to desktop issues? Mine is crashing at the "rewards" page after every race.

Playing through Xbox store on Pc, all latest drivers running on Windows 11, RX7900XTX, 7800X3D, 64GB Ram, Crucial T700

Running fine for me, albeit with an excess of frametime and having to turn some settings down to get 60 plus fps.

I dont mind the unlock system at the moment as I'm working my way through the career. The rate of progression is fast enough to not be too much of a hindrance and make it feel like you are "developing" a car over a season. However, I can see this becoming a big problem when I'm finished or had enough of the career mode. especially as cars are released through the car pass. Maybe I just want to jump in the new car, mod it and take it for a spin... Its effectively forcing you to complete a full race series, maybe even more than one if you really want to unlock every upgrade feature, something I'm not prepared to do, and I have no intention of playing this online. I see Forza as something I will pick up when I've not got the patience or energy for full on sim racing, but still fancy playing something motorsport related. If its going to become a chore it will end up being uninstalled.

As for crashes, I've had one whilst loading into track, though I'm not entirely sure Forza was completely to blame. Moza software also crashed at the same time. so I wonder if there was some sort of conflict that caused it.

Can anyone offer insight into how badly this will run on our ~9 years old pc with "updated" graphics card...

I5-6600k

RX 580

?

Do i need an xbox sub of some sort to play this on pc?, or does work as is through my Microsoft account, sounds a dumb question, but my old brain is struggling atm, thank's.

About to give this a blast now, I've been looking forward to this. Turn10 has really stolen the show for me since FM4, so we shall so now!

Running really poorly for me. Benchmark averages 90fps with everything maxed out but in game it's all over the place. Ranges from low 40's up to about 100 for no discernable reason.

Not got much time to play atm but will have a fiddle later. Can't play it like this :(
