Fuel up/down again

anyone noticed the prices going up before the duty increase, the fuel companies are sickening, the government arnt helping, you can tell there are a load of tory pigs in power! they after all invented the fuel duty escalator

Damn those Tories! Damn them to hell for these duty increases! If only people would realise that it was the previous Labour chumps who are to blame, but hey nothing like a bandwagon :o

Feel free to be annoyed with the lack of the fuel tax stabiliser though.

Shock as businesses try to make money!

And then the fuel company pays tax on that 1/3rd of the pump price anyway as it's revenue. Direct your bile at the government, not Shell or Jet :)

Try to make money?

Don't you mean dredge it in gleefully? Something like £1.5Million profit an hour.

I'd say they were as bad as each other.

Petrolium companies are not your friend.

:)

You really, really need to learn how petroleum companies operate. That post just makes you look really rather stupid.

I mean seriously, before making completely stupid posts at least have a quick google, or something, into where and where not revenue is generated.

The 4th largest energy group in the world for example, are completely pulling out of the UK retail petroleum market after YEARS of deliberation and proposals to do this to the parent company. You do not do this if there is profit to be made.

121.9 at Asda in Colchester for my most recent fill up. The thought of paying this much, let alone anymore than this makes me resent living in this country. I have a 15 mile commute to work which is too far to walk or cycle, so I'm stuck really. I wouldn't mind taking the bus or the train but that's ridiculously expensive too...

Does it?

I thought it was a good comparison to 'trying to make money'.

It's clear that they are, every second of every hour.

It's not so much trying, as hoovering it up.

So again.

I have a good idea being concerned with their oil groups.

I don't know, possibly?

I'd be suprised, but not at the same time.

Well Shell's profit in 2009 was $12.5 billion according to wiki and Apple in 2010 made something like $14 billion, so if your $1.5m/h figure was calculated correctly then it wouldn't be far off.

Brilliant counter argument there, I for one am totally convinced you are right now.

Totally convinced I am what?

You want me to convince you that there is profit in the UK market?

Funny, all those stations I drive past everyday... I never realised it was for the benevolent factor that they operate.

Nice retort ;) Get a clue. Read up on it, you may even find it interesting and make you resent the current retail prices to a lesser extent.

Here is a clue, stop talking mince.

I don't know what your getting yourself upset over, but I don't need to read anything.

Neither do I resent the current pricing?

:)

The very idea you'd tell Jez to 'go away' on a subject like this is quite hilarious.

There is very little profit in RETAIL FUEL. Often, RETAIL FUEL is subsidised by the massive profits from oil production rather than refined fuel retail.

The roads are not paved with gold in flogging petrol on forecourts.

Extracting oil is HUGELY profitable. Selling it to us in the form of unleaded is not.

He isn't. You are.

I like it when people debate like this, interested third parties such as myself always learn so much.
