One of my cars only takes V-Power Nitro+ so I'll need to keep buying it. My daily gets the regular Shell stuff though which I paid 102.9p for today. It was 99.9p at Tesco but I prefer to use Shell.

Oil now down to $30 following news that Iran is going to start flooding the market as well.

A few more pence off the pump coming over the next few weeks / months.

1.109 for Shell vPower Nitro+ from my local Shell today.

Think about how much more the margin is on that.

I think more petrol stations need to start relying on their brand.

Shell Regular - £1.019
Shell VPower Nitro+ - £1.109

Remove VAT to both and you get

84.9p and 92.4p.

Then remove fuel duty at 58.0p and you get

26.9p and 34.4p.

I don't know what Shell pay for the underlying petrol and distribution network, but the Vpower gets them so much more money.

As we've seen, people are willing to pay the extra. Probably largely because as a percentage it doesn't look like much if duty+vat is included.
