No one is suggesting that not a single penny is made but whatever the profit is, it accounts for a small amount of the overall profit. That entirely depends ... the oil companies make their profits on the forecourt (well or on the oil markets), but the actual station is generally not part of the oil company though ... so the profit for the station owner is much smaller.
There is little point in arguing over who makes a few extra pence profit between oil co. and station ownership .... it is the government that is responsible for 2/3rds of the cost of fuel

Which was perfectly correct and you've even agreed with this through the course of discussion, I believe you used the term 'threadbare' to describe it.
What they make elsewhere is besides the point unless you expect them to subsidise the cost of fuel.
They're certainly not 'as bad as each other' when compared to the government concerning why fuel prices are such a joke.

You get half the village idiots from a subforum deliberately misunderstanding, misquoting, misdirecting and ignoring you (and a few from outside jumping in for the lolz)... select the replies from about half a dozon pages of discussions with said idiots.
See how often you get ****ed off.
