Fuel up/down again

getting back slightly towards on topic, how much of an effect is this going to have on people?

as previously moaned abot every 10p a litre rise in fuel cost works out at £1100 a year onto my running costs for my business. considering in the last 12 months fuels jumped over 20p a litre that works out at my profits being 2grand less this year before i even consider reduced trade and any other factors.

2 grand increase in my fuel bill for a couple of taxis, makes you wonder just how much of an increase the larger haulier companies are suffering with?

the only thing i can see coming out of this is a lot of people in the transport/haulage business taking the risk and running their vehicles on red diesel

Food is going to continue to rise, and cue haullage firms being angry but prevented to only demonstrating in towns, wasting petrol. :( Terrorist truck drivers they be.

People will just continue to pay, or drive less. If it keeps on like this its going to start to effect low earner car ownership. Not sure about red diesel, fines and court action do put a lot off.

yep god help any of those nasty terrorist truckers protesting about the government cutting their livliehood out from under them

red diesel is a vehicle confiscation and hefty hefty fine, plus hmrc will be on your for duty/tax evasion, (read your goosed )

seriously considering petrol taxis for the next replacements and going down the lpg route. lpg comes in at 66p/l my current vectra averages 39mpg the octavias around 40/41 mpg if i can find a petrol car that will give me an average of anything over 20mpg i'm breaking even. anything over and i'm quids in.

Fox what does a 530i offer on the urban cycle?

About 20mpg.

It'd make a crap taxi, mind, they are getting on a bit now and you'd get sick of putting your profits into fixing it.

only a fleeting stupid thought tbh but it highlights my point perfectly

a 530 petrol with lpg will have the same fuel bill as my diesel taxis :( :(

personally i'm thinking insignia with a horrible 4 pot petrol lump :(

Just managed to fit £85 in my Pug 406, might last me a week and a half. I need to move closer to work asap!

Put £86 in the 530 on the 1st. If I didn't have a trip to Hampshire planned for weekend after next, it would last until February.

The worst thing is, your 3 litre 6 pot german luxo barge will do better mpg than my 406 :( I expect that £85 to last 400 miles, don't dare work out how poor mpg that is

Speaking about BP garages earlier in the thread, they are definitely more expensive here, we have a Shell and BP about half a mile apart and the BP is always 3/4p more expensive, but that does have a spar, were as the shell just does the usual snacks.

I sold my perfect Supra to buy a diesel Focus that keeps breaking and I've regretted it ever since but I wouldn't be able to run the Supra if the price's keep going up, which inevitably they will!

Edit: There's a BP garage in the next town which has been £1.369 for diesel since Saturday!

526 miles on my last tank. Though (excluding the Hampshire trip) I usually get about 280 from a full tank (£86).

Meh filled the Impreza up today as the light was on, £60 and that'll last me a week commuting to work plus weekend driving :(

Just to add some stats, which I keep, sadly :(

At the beginning of 09' I paid 107.9ppl for regular diesel at Asda.
At the end of 09' I paid 124.9ppl for regular diesel at the same Asda.

17ppl increase over 12 months :(

Although as I've moved closer to work I've saved £1000 over the previous year.

This year I spent £1,770.60 covering 15903 miles at an average of 47.3mpg using 1514.07 ltr of diesel.

I know, I like stats and numbers wayyy to much :D

Filled up £50 full tank at Shell yesterday with vpower it was at 124.9 down near London. Came home booting it and some sensible driving, averaged 36mpg, still got near half a tank left. Which should last me till the end of next week.

It does suck major though, as I think it will just increase with time.
