Fuel up/down again

According to my comp over 2500 miles I have averaged 49.7Mpg which i think is quite good. Re-mapping my car made quite a noticeable difference on fuel economy as I was just about getting 40Mpg before...

whats annoying me at the moment is my ST used to get 37mpg on longer trips, yet now im struggling to get above 31mpg... even when trying desperately hard.

Clean the filter. Check the spark plugs ? Block off part of the radiator, not sure if any of that works especially
A free flow exhaust would help reduce load on the engine

Tyre pressure is the easiest one, lower it is the more resistance. Polish the car for less air resistance at high speeds :p 56mph is the ideal speed, streamline behind a big truck or coach for even less load

How much would light alloys help

The engine has got the ability to run on 4 cylinders so I imagine that helps fuel economy no end around town.

That is neat. Saab had a variable cylinder size engine at one point, I dont think it ever came close to production though

If everyone read the road better and avoided needless acceleration they would massively reduce fuel costs. The amount if people I go in a car with who accelerate to red lights etc.

Correct tyre pressures also help.

So you decided to come back to the forum... specifically to argue with fox? lawl.

What's the Friggin point. I have seen many members banned for trolling!!! Read his posts he is nothing but a troll.

His analysis on all posts till he feels he has enough to jump on somebody an attack them. The moderators seem to ignore it, fair enough. To be honest I couldn't give a damn if I get banned just sick of reading good friendly information without somebody trying to sabotage a decent thread with their own personal corn cob up their ass getting in the way.

Maybe the the Forum should be renamed BMW 3 litre drivers and any old Mondeo's only.

He aint that bad, no point driving yourself mad.

some people expect this forum to be like the one make forum where you can say what you like and change your facts every other day of the week and make stuff up and have nobody care and say "cool story bro" all the time.

Neither pistonheads or OcUK is like that. People notice when people's stories change.

You're letting the internet get to you way too much, perhaps it's time to log off and go back to real life for a while? You clearly can't cope online

Got just above a quarter of a tank left and have done 305 miles! Hopefully I can stretch this tank to 430ish :p Although, anything over 400 before the fuel light comes on and I'm happy.

I like having a drink you like absorbing 1000 pages of info, you got a problem with that?

In fact you should try having a few, save you being so ****ing blunt with everyone, might save you getting a poke in the eye one day too

Time to have a drink. Bottoms up! :p

No he is too blunt but i suppose thats what hes like.

Iv since been told that hes like that in life too, which has raised my estimation of the man, because i do hate a mouthy **** who is silent when you meet them.

Also in his favour he is generally right too, so arguably you get what you came for on a motors forum, the info you wanted.

Sabotage? It's my thread!

I think you are taking things a tad too seriously. I'm over opinionated, and always have been. Nobody is perfect.

I will inevitably wind people up with the way I post and the opinions I hold. I know this is as well as anyone - but you show me one person with a flawless personality and I'll show you a liar. All you are doing, in this thread, is exactly what you accuse me of doing which demonstrates how nobody is perfect. I post what I think, often without thinking. A lot of the time this is the opinion others share but are too restrained to post - some of the time it results in completely the wrong thing being said at an inappropriate moment. When this is the case I usually apologise. I have an obsessive personality and an attention to detail, this manifests itself on this forum as being being overly pedantic and full of useless knowledge on boring issues. The former is often irritating but sometimes quite funny, the latter is useful to the forum.

I think the important distinction is that I post and end up irritating people, I don't post in order to irritate people. The ignore button is there if you really can't stand the posts I make.

In this particular case though I still feel the guy was off the mark blaming fuel price for all his woes when, as his subsequent posts quite clearly showed, the fuel price was but a small consideration in his decision and there were other far more important factors which resulted in his decision. As usual I wasn't the only one to make the points I did but I am the only one to receive any flak for it.

But easier to just **** me off, right?

i filled the car at 124.9 today. The car was about 1/8th full (between the start of the red and 1/4) and it cost me £64. A full tank, empty to brimmed would have been closer to £70 I reckon.

Told at my local gas station today that their prices would be going up by 5p on Monday and definitely by another 5p on April 1st with other likely further regular increases between those two dates
