Fuel up/down again

They support the argument that it makes no difference worth caring about. I suppose unless you really care whether you're getting 30.0mpg or 30.3mpg then yes, they support your posts, but otherwise they just don't.

Whichever way you try and spin your comments, you're never getting 'a few mpg' worth of economy just from half filling a tank, which is what you were arguing by disagreeing with someone who posted precisely that, no matter how you try and pretend you weren't saying it.

And is rising quickly - oil is the highest price for 27 months with another duty rise in April.

Meh, fill the tank, just remove all the rubbish from the boot :) there you go, more MPG and less hassle of having to stop more frequently. Best of both worlds.

Don't understand the attitude at the end of your post in capital letters.... I stated a fact, you decided to mock it, I defended it and you get tetchy ?

It was the 'hey ho' smugness posted after supplying two links which had nothing to do with your point in them that triggered that ;)

If someone disagreed with a point you were making, you jump straight in defending it pretty vigorously yet no one can defend a point that you disagree with (even when they are technically correct) ??

The difference here is that you are trying to defend a point that is simply wrong? Even the 'evidence' you cite disagrees with you and sides with us, showing that 25kg makes no perceptable difference, and not a different of a 'few mpg'.

Rising fuel costs sucks and I really hope they lower them again eventually. I can't really add anything more to the discussion. It's a real pleasure driving my motor but when it comes down to only going when it's really necessary, is there any point?

Right now it's just for commuting - I don't even drive to town to do my shopping or to see my friends anymore and this is because of atrocious fuel costs.

There's no doubt some will say that my budgeting is poor if the fuel rises are throwing it all into disarray - but I've a feeling the prices are affecting a hell of a lot of people into doing something about it.

For a lot of people, it's not as simple as 'if you can't afford it don't drive then'. This is why rising fuel prices for no real reason really take the **** and a half.

I really wanted to put Shell V-Power in today, it was at £1.37, and Shell Fuel Saver at £1.27, I decided to put the fuel saver in. It would have been £40/full tank, where as V-Power would have been £50 I think. I hope the fuel doesn't go any higher, as people that are on a budget will have problems. Kind of hurts thinking about others that may not be able to afford the prices.

Interestingly I have recorded no difference between Shell 'Fuel Saver' and Esso 95, which registers no different compared to Shell V-Power. I am returning 24.5 MPG on all of them!

I returned 39mpg on BP Ultimate, going to try on the fuel saver tomorrow, with similar driving.

Do you use a full tank each day or something Vita

Why? What made you say that? This week I must have done 200miles, and I topped £20 worth of BP Ultimate on Monday, and £20 of Shell today.

That's more to do with the fail that is posting a message which can be misinterpreted due to not being able to convey emotion.... My use of hey-ho was not smugness, it should have been read as indifference, much like the use of the word "meh"... I guess I will use that in future to save confusion...

I actually recorded the best mpg I have seen in my TDI golf with it full of stuff plus a full tank of fuel. This was on a trip from Kent to Scotland so mostly motorways. On the way down it was lower mpg and its downhill all the way ;)
