Fuel up/down again

Loads of cars require more than £80 worth of fuel, what a bizarre cut off limit (although depressingly i suspect historic not imagining that >£80 will become a normal fill) :(

I'll have to try somewhere else and see if they have a higher limit.

Its a tesco metro with an esso station which makes it handy for getting a bit of dinner on the way home from work.

When it was £1.10 a litre £80 got you about 73 litres - which was always enough as i've never managed to get the tank that low.

But now it barely even gets you 65 litres.

In a moment of darwin-esque thought, I decided to put Tesco Momentum into my Jeep Cherokee. Think I put 60L in and it was over £80 odd.

I wanted to see if the Jeep would feel different for having slightly more pep in the fuel and if it made any difference to MPG. I also thought well, if it doesn't make any difference at last the next time I fill up it will be cheaper :)

Seems to be £99 on most pumps ive used, PITA in certain vans even then!

Both of our cars can take a bit more than that if they are running on fumes when you fill them up, now tbh I don't let mine drop that low but even so ...when the limit isn't high enough to fill your car from empty it's a bit silly.

What E46?

216 miles from half a tank doesn't seem bad from a 6cyl especially if it's a 323/328 and moreso if the light came on when you got home so you'd have about 60 miles left anyway.

30 quid seemed to last me about 200 miles. I wonder if that's ok? Not had the car long & filled it from empty, it cost 60 quid. 6 days that took to reach half a tank. It was about 40 quid a week for the RAV4 so an extra 40 quid a month will be a bonus.

Problem is it might take 2-3 tank fulls for the ECU to be 'used' to the better stuff.

I'm getting through a silly amount of fuel at the moment. I'm considering moving away from V-Power back to standard diesel to save money as it's just silly. I got caught short on the A38 the other day and ended up paying 141.9. :(

Currently doing circa 600 miles a week, 500 miles to a full tank at about £70.

I still maintain it should be illegal to milk the motorist like this - by all means tax tobacco, luxury goods, and alcohol but fuel should be capped by law.

I expect Fox will be along shortly to tell me that i'm wrong to think like that.
