Fuel up/down again

Bugger, I knew I should have filled up at the weekend.

Sod it, there's still half a tank left in the Volvo anyway. Enough for another 100 miles.

Half a tank and only 100 miles..
I was exaggerating slightly. Well, a lot :p

But a full tank (80 litres) is only good for about 350 miles. And my commute is 10 miles of motorway each way...
Tank size is good, so the range isn't that bad. But filling up and seeing three figures takes the ****

:D I was going to ask if you drive a volvo truck....

I get around 650m on 66 litres in my smog machine. Filled it up today and nearly cried when paying..

Mind you half a tank costs £15.

Bloody small car :p
The Lolvo's tank is probably the same size as the Mini's cabin :D

The BMW's slightly more economical, but I only take it if the frost is too thick on the Volvo. Or if its locks are frozen :o

Filled up the modeo yesterday for my work trip over the next couple of days. Cost over £70 for the first time

Hopefully that should be good for 500-600 miles if I keep below 90 on the motorways

I'm on just over 400 miles and I've used roughly 34 litres of Diesel - I have 12 litres left until empty, so I'm hopefully going to be good for another 100-150 miles before I need to fill up. I'll report back.

I'm wondering if I can squeeze a bit more out as well, on my next fill up. I already do a number of things already - I try to roll to junctions and traffic lights; only braking if I really need to and I change at around 2000-2250 revs.

I don't normally switch my engine off at traffic lights, but that could squeeze a few more mpg out maybe.

£74 to fill my gti6 tonight. it was at the bottom of the red, but even still, it's a lot fo money for 400 miles to a tank if I drive relatively moderately.

Its got the point that i can't fill my tank at some petrol stations any more.

Local esso station the pump cuts out @ £80 and forces you to go pay.

I've got a 75 Litre tank so if i'm filling it from empty to full i can't quite fill it. Depressing :(

pfft, by putting in £80 max you're beating the fuel rises anyway

Loads of cars require more than £80 worth of fuel, what a bizarre cut off limit (although depressingly i suspect historic not imagining that >£80 will become a normal fill) :(
