Fuel up/down again

You can change the way you drive though. I see so many people speeding around for no reason, hard launches from the lights, stamping on the brakes at the very last second etc. If you plan ahead, use engine braking and use as little throttle as possible, you'll save money.

some people still enjoy the thrill of driving - others do big miles every month and are made to drive like zombies

This has also affected the cost of bangers on ebay.

Anything over 2L is now dropping in value (V8s and up are going to be hard to shift), and anything under 1.5 has shot up. I am having a hell of a time finding anything reasonable for under £500 in my area.

Made to? No they are not. You can drive how you want but if you want to speed everywhere and generally drive like your pants are on fire don't complain about fuel costs - you have the choice to either drive economically or drive on the motorway at 90+ while tailgating and stamping on the brakes every time you have to slow down.

The high petrol prices are a pain but as my commute is barely 5 miles a day it hasnt really made much difference for me, and as the weather improves i will be on my bike most of the time and only using the car when its required for work or shopping.

The great thing is though when I come to sell the Fiesta I will more than likely make a profit as the price of small engine cars are just going up and up all the time even though from my own use its barely more economical to drive than my old 330ci.. Average 31mpg vs 24mpg around town and 45mpg vs 36mpg on the motorway.

I still dont understand why you swapped the 330Ci for a Fiesta? Did it turn out to be the dodgy nail everyone said it would given how cheap it was? :p

Considering the Sat Nav died 3 days after I sold it, I was more than lucky, but yeah while it was a nice car it had many hidden issues which all slowly started to appear. Now im in 2 minds weather to get another saloon (quiet like the audi a4 B6) or hold onto the Fiesta for a while and put more money towards a new car.

Quiet like the new focus due in April. The fiesta is and always will be a stop gap car, no intensions of keeping it past is use by date as its horrible to drive and does my back over long distance.

You'll get what you paid for it maybe, prices aren't going up but things like mine (a 13 yo Fiesta) have stayed the same price for 2 years now. You won't be seeing it double in value, put it that way :p

I know - it's great.

I got an 83k Scorpio Cosworth for £900 and a 4.0 V8 lexus LS400 for £1500.

For that price, I couldn't give two hoots how much fuel costs or what MPG they do.

I suppose the difference is though that I don't ONLY have £900 to spend on a car - I could pay cash for a £10k car but I choose not to (can't stomach depreciation).

This is the only good thing to come out of high petrol prices - the fact that people panic and sell their nice V8/V6/I6 and buy a Fiesta, leaving the prices low for me to buy a nice V8/V6/I6. :D

Seems to working its magic on the 335i's at the moment, as the SE's are now reaching the 14-15k mark.

Not really - they are 4.5 years old now and £15k for a 4.5 year old 3 Series is hardly some sort of magic special high fuel price offer is it, go back 5 years and a 2001 330Ci was... about 14-15k?

I've found that the E92 330i and the 335i's are very very similar in price - which i put down to the fact that people were going for the more frugal 330i?

EDIT: I've just looked and it seems as though 325i's are also very similar in price with 320i's being only about £1000-£1500 cheaper for roughly equivlant examples. This suggests to me that the 335i's have dropped in price more than the 320/325's and to a lesser extent, the 330i's.

How long will it take to get the precise figures for last quarter growth?

If we shrunk by 0.5% I wonder if the chancellor will wait either until the figure is corrected (up or down) or whether he'll wait until the next set of figures come out.

Might be just the sweetner to the public if a "government in touch with it people" made the grand gesture to freeze the next rise to divert attention away from what might be another negative period.

The potential freeze on fuel duty in April is just another ploy by the goverment to make themselfs look ok.

By not adding an extra 1p on fuel duty people wont be worse off but they wont be any better off either so, either way for the general public its a loss.

Sometimes I wish someone would make an "undercover boss" for MP's program so they can see what its like to live in the real world for once!

Probably the same as its already been doing, putting them out of business. No matter how you swing it the people of britain are royally screwed, budget cuts, high prices are just the start of a downward spiral, its only going to get worse.

I know for my work, several people have already received redundancy notices due to budget cuts and some of the worst area's in the country will be loosing vital services because of the cuts.

What really annoys me though is the local council here are cutting the budget by 9 million for multiple services like child care etc but still find 2.8 million to spend on a friggin abbey which is purely for the tourists, what about the the actual residents!
