Fuel up/down again

It's a thread titled "Fuel up again", what do you expect?

As per the first half of this thread it was intended for discussion, we all know how much petrol costs right now, whereas discussion around where its going in the future and the rights/wrongs involved is more interesting.

Absolutely mad, I drove to work this morning and didn't need petrol, so I didn't look at the price as I drove past. I don't even know how much my local garage is charging today

Lets face it everyones feeling the hurt at the moment. Maybe its the wakeup call we all need, but unless someone comes out with somekind of conversion kit to change from unleaded to a cheaper substitute theres not much we can do.

But then again will it just be like LPG which has shot up in price in the last few years ? I remeber it being about 34p now its almost 80p.

I personally think that in an effort to encourage the reduced CO2 emissions and increased economy offered by diesel, the government should remove the duty on the fuel.

What about the other tailpipe emissions ... the actual bad ones ... diesel is not as "clean" as petrol in that regard

Without trawling back through the pages, does anyone else find it slightly ironic that after shoving duty UP on fuel when they dropped VAT to 15% the wonderful Labour party are now moaning that the VAT increase to 20% should be reversed on fuel back to 17.5% because its making fuel more expensive.

Labour im afraid cannot make any arguments whatsoever on the economy. 80% of whats happening with cuts and tax increases is a direct result of them and their reckless spending / borrowing culture.

With my recent switch in motor I'll probably get Double the mpg on a run that I used to get in the Shogun, Only trouble is I'm like a teenager whose just passed his test at the mo & have to keep going out for a blast, This kicks my mpg in the sacks but I'm Buzzing to much to worry about it. :o + :p

I've recently switched motor too. :p

My right foot is particularly heavy at the moment. Not helping with how much i have to spend on petrol.

No, I can assure you all, diesel is very clean and additionally the greatest fuel ever. Per litre of diesel used by an engine approximately 18 trees are planted, 7 kittens born and 2 little girls given ice creams.
