Fuel up/down again

I filled up with 4 Star yesterday for 40.5p/litre!

There are no further duty increases scheduled (after the VAT increase) therefore at the moment any future rises are purely off the back of oil price increases (And thus a nice way for the government to try and deflect the blame).

Another increase in April -

And the RAC Foundation pointed out that fuel tax would rise even further in April.

Biodiesel. For old engines it's great but moderrn common rail diesels won't run on it, at least my volvo won't. Then you've got to find it, although this will become easier no doubt.

Biodiesel if properly made can run in any common rail car, they are just allot fussier than a direct injection engine, they need full conversion in the reaction.

Even pump diesel has around 5% biodiesel but they don't tell you this.
As long as the Biodiesel you buy is to the ATSM standard you will be fine, allot out their isn't so be aware.

if it went to £10 a gallon would you be up for a protest then? at the moment its £5.67 a gallon in Newcastle, its getting Mad this country boils my ****.

Revolution is a step closer,I'll start in the north and meet you southerners half way! say Nottingham?

Yes i know about the pump diesel being 5%.

When my Uncle had my current car and I had my ZX diesel we both tried running on bio. The ZX was fine, the Volvo did not like it at all even with the filters changed.

I know some common rail engines seem to run ok on it, I saw a lot of the HDi and CDTi engined cars filling up, but on cars that are notorious for injector problems it's a bit of a false economy running on cheap fuel to be presented with a £1k bill after 18 months. I don't know anyone whose continually ran a common rail diesel on bio for a significant amount of time so i don't know first hand what the long term effects are. There are nightmare stories on the internet, but then you only publish if you have a bad experience generally.

When I stopped using it it wasn't that cheap either, over £1 a litre, and now you don't see the places selling it.

All that will happen at this rate is that people will run red or just stop driving. It'll reach the point where this is unsustainable and people just will not be able to afford to travel.

If you northerners got off benefits and got a job then we'd not have this problem in the first place. ;)

What will they do when everyone has ditched their gas guzzlers for ultra fuel efficient £30 a year vehicle tax motors?

They'll have to but the VED up on them to compensate in the loss of fuel duty.
