I'm sad to say I sent my 7800gs 512 back today, it just wouldn't stop the sentinel warnings:(
On the plus side, my new system arrived yesterday & is in full flow.
7900gt 512, Athlon64 3200+ & BFG Nforce 4 Ultra board. Obviously I've finally gone PCIx & it's my first AMD too so I'm going to be baffled with dividers & stuff for a while;)

Hi fella's, I got this card today and have been trying to do some benchmarking. However i appear to have a serious problem with the 3dmark05 and 06 programs.

The first graphics test runs ok but the second (firefly) test fails while loading and i recieve the following message.

Idirect3DDevice9::DrawIndexedPrimitive failed: Out of video memory (D3DERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY)

I've googled it and have fund little to encourage me so far.

First off I tried the 84.25 V2 drivers from tweaks'r'us. I then tried the vanilla drivers straight off the nvidia website and the problem persisted. I installed the April release of directx 9 a couple of weeks ago.

The card runs the Half Life Lost Coast demo maxed out at 1280 1024 with no hiccups so i'm at a loss as to what is going on here. I'm hoping some of you kind souls can help me out - beware though I'm a noob...

Specs -

p4 3.2 Northwood
1GB Corsair 3200 Ram
ASUS p4p800
Tagan 480W PSU

Could be a currupted copy of 3dmark, try uninstall, reinstalling again?

The voucher you get with this card, goes to:

www.gainwardgamingzone.com

and, well, if they're trying to promote this card as having the latest GPU power, Gainward have definitely not done well with their choice of games. I haven't even bothered using my voucher....
Anyone feel the same? (sorry to sound a bit disgruntled...)
Was not offered with a free game when I ordered mine, so a nice suprise when this showed up, the software available is a bit po-po / budget, `ordered` deus ex invisible war, played it for an hour or so thus far, not fantastic by todays standards but ok.
Also pre purchased from steam Sin emergence (very cheap with exchange rate :) ), comes with original sin 1 game which I already had but been replaying it all again, all good phun ~ half life 2 episode 2 will be next :D

Cheers for the tip but it happens at the same point in both the 05 and 06 versions. I have also tried reinstalling but no dice I'm afraid.

Just installed Oblivion though and it auto-detected Ultra-High quality settings. I assume that video-card memory is detected during the process so i guess that's a good sign. I'll give the game a whirl after the smoggies UEFA Cup final.

Hmm, strange. Mine once did that on the same one, maybe because the core is too much for the card or memory? Can't remember. Try clocking down a tad, or underclocking if you are on stock MHz GHz.

DEf try this first and then try reinstal DX9.0 c again, otherwise have a look in your bios and see what your AGP
aperture size is set at in here, might be a factor

Cheers fella's I'll do a re-run later on this evening with another set of re-installs.

I was running at stock speeds Vita so i'll maybe try underclocking it and see what happens too.

I'll have a look at the aperture size in the Bios but i'm sure i remember seeing that it was 64 when detected by the 3dmark progs. Anyways if this error is only going to be a problem with 3dmark and not games then I'm not too fussed - I'll see how Oblivion goes and report back.

And Nobski, what on earth is a Nobski?

Sounds like a Russian sex toy...

:D

Well changing the aperture size up to 256 seemed to get rid of the message and i managed to run through the firefly test a couple of times. Unfortunately it was a ridiculous slideshow - the second time i ran it the fps was 0.061

Even worse i then tried running through all six tests and I got the error message again upon loading the firefly test.

Oh well I'm going to throw some games at it for a couple of days and see what happens.

Thanks again for all the help.

Is that with the setup in your sig?
That seems an awful lot considering I'm getting @9200 with an Athlon64 3200+ @ 2400mhz on PCIx:)

Yeah mate with the setup in my sig. But I overclocked through windows to 2.4GHz, at stock 2GHz I get 7980.

I ordered Splinter Cell for my voucher, had to use the 1.3 patch to get it to run properly though with the card. I had bought the 7800GS 512mb version.

Edit: Seems that Leadtek are thinking of releasing new AGP cards soon as well now that they've seen there's still a market for them: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display/20060511235501.html

well got this card for my other pc and it wouldnt boot, fans inside case would be moving but thats it, stuck it in my shuttle xpc with the 300w psu and its running fine. shame i had to remove the back plate to fit it in tho

This just a guess, but on your pc where it wouldnt boot, did you try changin the AGP apateur size in the BIOS from where ever it is to 256mb? Wouldnt work with me until I did that in my BIOS settings.

Hope that helps

Please post the full system specs of the system it didn't work in. Otherwise you're giving us no helpful info at all.

Especially the motherboard brand? Might save someone else a headache later.
