I've started getting the slow downs & sentinel warnings again
Looks like I'm going to have to RMA it after all:(

I've only got the problem when I up the res and graphics quality in GRAW. I can pay it in 1024 x 768... without any probs. FEAR runs smooth and normal. Maybe it's a graphic-demand problem with the cards...? Maybe the RAM is heating up too much on the card? (as we know the GPU temps are fine).

Maybe we should start a new thread about this issue... ? :(

I sorted out my Nvidia sentinel insufficient power warning, after getting an RMA number from Andy in support :o (I'll speak to them Monday)
It's nothing to do with hardware or PSU's as I tried my old one again, it's software related.
First I uninstalled & completely cleaned all drivers off (driver cleaner), then resolved any issues left with CCleaner. Re-installed (84.43) & added coolbits.
I'd done that a few (many) times before but what I've done differently now is untick the 'notify when GPU core temp. exceeds thresholds' box in driver settings.
As I was only getting the slowdown & warning after running the system for 1/2hr or so I initially thought heat might be a problem but temps. were (still are) constantly 45-60c. Maybe there's some sort of confusion/conflict between the temp & power sensors, a guess as I don't even know if they exist or drivers & bios. All seems fine now though & I know of others have the same problem so it might be worth trying:)

Would someone be kind enough to check my 3d scores for my system as I'm not really sure what's what:) - '03 & '05

Hey Johnny,

(wow this is my 3rd -different- reply to you, in a row...!)

I had the probs with the 84.43 driver too. I've gone back to 84.21 v2 (Xtreme G from Tweaksrus) and I've not seen the issue since. But my PC has stopped booting up first time..... I always need to reset, then it's OK>... weird..

Anyway, could it be a driver issue?

Drivers issues never affect how the PC boots up, boot issues are usually hardware faults if the BIOS is unchanged.

Yeah- figured that. And if this still happens after I've installed my new dual-rail 12v PSU (with a dedicated PCiE connector), then it must be a prob with the Gainward card... thats my guess anyway. Strange that it only happens after the PC has been on a while and AFTER playing GRAW (for me) on high detail...

Keep us updated! this thread is deciding if I buy this card or not and just go with the BFG 7800GSOC now

Well, I've been playing GRAW demo for a good hour - at 1280 x 960 res, high quality textures, no problemo since installing the new PSU (Akasa Ultra Quiet -dual 12v rail- 460W).

I'm pretty happy :)

Now I'll upgrade my driver (been using the 84.21 v2 XG) to the 84.43 everyone's been raving about... just to see...

Do most psus tell you if they are dual 12v rail? cant see anything that ays the hiper type-r 580watt is but then its modular so has seperate leads for everything :s

If it's an ATX2.x PSU then it'll be at least a dual rail PSU - some are quad rail

If you look on the side of the PSU then you'll see two different amperage ratings for the 12V rail, often labelled 12V1 and 12V2. This are the amps supplied for each individual 12V rail

The Hyper Type-R 580W Modular PSU is a dual rail PSU

Seems def a PSU related problem

It def seems like a PSU related problem. I've cranked my graphics in GRAW up to 1600 x 1200 and not had any problems - high quality as well, not fantastic frame rate, but playable - and no 'sentinel' warnings!!!! Yeah baby...!

Guys seem to have a problem. I decided to do a 3DMARK05 benchmark yesterday, and with my Gainward set at 510/1420 I got a score of 7615 and that's with High Performance set in the nVidia panel, I normally got more then this around the 8.3k mark. I'm using the Forceware Ultra drivers someone posted on this forum not so long ago, could they be the problem?

Or has my GFX card gone dud?

Any help appreciated, thanks. :)

Sounds like drivers to me, only way to really know is to roll back to `standard` drivers to see how it compares
