Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Thought I'd at least give the first episode a try. Hmm, ok I guess. Worth another episode.
pretty much nothing happened and no reason to be invested in any characters.

so much time wasted on pointless jousting scenes

may as well go watch "a knights tale" or whatever that film was called instead

Have to echo others it's just dull, nothing happens. I understand they are introducing characters but there's just no hook to the episode. Compare it to the 1st episode of GoT, they did the same but the ending left you wanting more. Nothing of the sort here.

Meh, guess it was alright but as others have said a bit drab. I know it's only the first episode but so far it's utterly lacking the plot twists and storycraft that George RR Martin had in his original novels. Having seen what happened to GoT by the final season when they ran out of book material I'm not holding out much hope for this series personally....

I liked it, was engrossed into the new story quite quickly. I have my suspicions on what will happen in the next few eps but so far we have had our share of GoT eye candy for sure.

This is pretty much exactly my thoughts too. GoT burned a lot of the credit they had built up with me , with that final season. So instead of coming at me from a position of strength based on GoT, they are coming at me from a position of weakness and distrust. Which means that they need to do something above and beyond to earn back that credit from me and that first episode did nothing above and beyond to garner any credit.

Pretty much the same. The long winter reference made me chuckle, it lasted one night :p
I'm trying to think of it as a prequel to the books and forget at least S7/8 happened.

Maybe Grrm will actually come through with the next Got book in the meantime and all that prophecy will carry more weight. Ok thats not going to happen , but hope springs etc.

Enjoyed it! Got to laugh at the 'it's boring' crew. You may well be right in the end, time will tell, but literally every series of GoT would get the exact same criticism at the start and then when they get the pay off around episode 9 it's the best thing ever. Then the next season doesn't start with fireworks, 'it's boring' all over again. Careful what you wish for, the last season of GoT decided to just move from set piece to set piece and that was lambasted.
