Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Yeah, we had to re-watch that bit in case we missed something. Seemed a bit OTT - or maybe a bit too forced in order for his character to do something further down the line.

And we weren't quite sure why the queen was quite so arsey. Yes, her kids etc but at least give Rhaenyra a chance to be act kindly?
I don't truly understand why Cole suddenly snapped like that? Seemed wildly out of character and came out of nowhere….
So Cole’s actions weren’t that extraordinary. Don’t forget he just confessed to the queen knowing full well he’d suffer a horrific death. His guilt at soiling his name and oath is overriding everything right now. Having the lover of her soon to be husband make out like they could carry on their transgressions like nothing was the matter was just too much.

The queen situation is kinda clear cut. Yes, she could hope for the princess’s good nature but ultimately her father is right. If wrong all her children and herself will be murdered. Is that a risk you can take?
Rhaenyra has been proven to be a liar (she was manipulated by the new hand via his son) and ultimately found out about Cole which even they didn’t know about.
New hand’s knight (who saw the princess out with daemon) even made sure the fight escalated I think. Not 100% on his endgame, if he’s with someone else or playing for the throne himself. He’s seemingly played everyone so far.

Really enjoyed this ep. It’s all getting very tense now.

@Jono8 - I presume Cole did that because:

… it was a big ‘**** you’ to the Rhaenyra, who had basically rejected his marriage proposal, which he took great offence to earlier in the episode (when he stormed off on the ship).

If he couldn’t be happy, then he was going to cause as much grief to the others as possible. He basically ensured that Rhaenyra wasn’t going to get what she wanted out of the marriage - no relationship with Cole and a miserable husband.

Still seemed massively out if character though.

He was always portrayed as this mentally strong noble Knight.

In the episode he threw a massive tantrum and offered up his own death to the queen before getting into the fight… and on that theme was finally shown actually attempting to kill himself.

First loves can sting :D

i guess . I just found that ending to the episode very jarring/unexpected (but not in a good way).

Trying to avoid spoilers but just watched first episode of House of the Dragon and it was very good, night and day versus Rings of Power. I appreciate they are very different things but that was a good opener.

From the trailer for ep 6 I am wishing they had kept the younger actors.

A trick RoP would do well to take note of for later, ditch Morfydd Clark and some of the rest of the carboard they have in the show and bring some proper actors in.

Different story with HoD as the incomers have tough acts to follow.

Caught up on the latest. I feel like this is beginning to drag: this is all a prelude, they've been telling us since episode one there's going to be a war of succession, we know Rhanera is likely going to lose (or the male bias of GoT wouldn't follow), but they're taking their damn time getting to the actual meat of the story.

Also, the whole wedding fight scene landed poorly. No-one stopped him? Really? And then he just walks away? He's not in jail? Really?

He's may be Kingsguard but he's a nobody knight from a low family and he ruins the King's wedding feast like that? No. He'd be being tortured to death by now.

I like the show but only issue I’m having is I’m literally not invested in any of the characters, any of them could die and wouldn’t bat an eye lid.

Saying that the kings brother is excellent, but he is a baddy. The knight protecting the princess in likeable enough I guess.

With GoT you had excellent characters like Ned etc right off the get go.

Could very well be one of the best episodes yet imo.

Was worried about the new actresses and didn't need to be at all, they picked up straight on point.
