Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Best episode we've had so far this week with the time jump, felt like it moved bit too quick compared to previous episodes after the time jump and they did a good job at introducing Vhagear and how big of a dragon it is compared to ones we've already seen.

I like the show but only issue I’m having is I’m literally not invested in any of the characters, any of them could die and wouldn’t bat an eye lid.

Saying that the kings brother is excellent, but he is a baddy. The knight protecting the princess in likeable enough I guess.

With GoT you had excellent characters like Ned etc right off the get go.

Indeed. I think they are all boring and I care very little about any of them.

It is the shows lack of wit. Its just one long boring drudge about the woes of child birth, and which crazy dragon person will inherit the thrown.

Thought it was the worst. The actor changes was jarring with some staying/looking the same and some being replaced with actors that look barely older than the ones before.

I swear to god if I look at the post history of some those complaining here about this show and your rating utter drudge like SheHulk there's going to be a riot.

Anyway...I'm enjoying this show.

My problem with the time jump is that it takes time for the audience to connect with not just the character, but the actor playing the character. With each jump there is a disconnect for the actor part and it takes time for the audience to reconnect again. I am sure if this was in written words on a page it'll be easy to imagine in the head but on the screen there is no getting away from the unfamiliarity for at least a couple of episodes.

The story itself is good, but it will take me time to get used to the faces again.

The problem for me is that a lot of what they are showing, and making out to be a big deal seems inconsequential to the plot.

It was heavily implied the king was on his last legs and had some bad illness and would die soon....nope still alive and getting into his old age 10+ years later

The end fight of the previous episode with Cole killing that bloke was just....meaningless. Nothing happened to him, he is still one of the kings guard and rhaenyra's husband is still off copulating with other men outside of his marriage.

Also why did Daemon's wife set fire to herself?

it is just all a bit boring with nothing much but characters doing out of character things all the time.

yea she might as well of just let them cut the baby out if they was going to die anyway
I thought it was implied the baby was already dead - the trauma of that combined with the mother knowing she'd die when they cut out her dead baby meant she decided to go out on her terms.

I did think for a moment the dragon was going to be like 'no mate'

I thought the guy said he didn't know if the baby would survive it

From what iv read there are time jumps until episode 8 and that basically all of this is just backstory for the main show. The creators didn't want to include any of this but were pushed by George to.

The last two episodes of this season are in essence the start of the proper show format.

As I've stated several times in this thread, the older actors were cast first and then they found younger ones

Also, Daemon was made out to be this dastardly, devious and ambitious character in all of the episodes before the last one, but then suddenly he is family man and just wants to settle down with a nice amount of gold.

Yep. Earlier in the episode she is complaining that she does not want to die a slob. She knew it was over for her, so went out the way she wanted.
and obviously the earlier dragon training scenes with the kids was to highlight that the dragons will take any commands once paired.
