Games you're playing, and games...

I am enjoying it but it’s a bit of a slog. The first one is arguably my favourite game of all time but this just isn’t grabbing me in the same way and it’s hard to figure out why. Jus turned off after failing the mission where you stop the grave robbers. I think that showcases the very best and worst of this game. Good level and looks amazing with how they’ve done the lighting and atmosphere but trying to manoeuvre around the graves at speed is almost impossible. Managed to get out the graveyard a few times but stopped by a dog that I just can’t see a couple of times then shot to death and just rage quit when I managed to get on my horse and get away only to run into a police horse coming the other way at full speed. Horse dead, tried to revive it but got stuck in the animation so just stood in the middle of the road unable to pull out a gun only to be surrounded by the law, shot dead.
I've found almost every Rockstar game to have clunky, awkward controls. Turned me right off RDR2 despite the otherwise high production values and attention to detail. GTA5 was the same for me.

Almost done with Demon's Souls Remake.

Liking it more than I expected, thought it'd be too basic after playing other From games but I really appreciate its condensed nature and ideas that haven't made it into their other titles.

Level design is good, they're fun to explore and there's plenty to find, especially with world and character tendency affecting things. They also look beautiful because the graphics are top-notch.

No checkpoints within levels so the tension of exploration is increased and dying in bodily form shifts world tendency towards Black so you have to choose whether to stay a phantom and deal with a health penalty or risk dying in human form.

I love how character builds work here (except magic being stupidly OP) and with heavy emphasis on resistances you have to switch weapons for different enemies.

The bosses are much less complex than, for example in ER or Sekiro, or even DS3 and BB, but they're very atmospheric and introduced in a way that greatly complements the levels.

It's great that such an old game is deep enough in terms of gameplay and world mechanics that it's just been given a new paintjob and still stays relevant today. Practically nothing else has been changed except the graphics.

That'd be something else. Baffling they've been neglecting it for so long, especially that the game's pretty much perfect as is so all it needs is the same updated paintjob. Can't even imagine Yharnam on this engine...

So I'm at the end of Demon's Souls after a short break from playing. Took some time to look for missed stuff and manipulate World Tendency.

All that's left to do in this playthrough is killing Allant and crafting Northern Regalia. I missed some things but I might jump into NG+ and try a new playstyle going for Pure Black character tendency for the Mephistopheles quest and wrapping up missed things. Heard NG+ has the steepest difficulty curve of all their games.

Ran something close to a strength build throughout which has now transformed into pure Bonk build with +5 Dragon Bone Smasher + mandatory Cursed Weapon via cracked Talisman of Beasts:D

I'll probably want to finish GoT before that as I want to use my PS+ to the fullest before it runs out.

Also playing Dead Space Remake with a friend and it's super fun, we're at the end of Mining deck and we basically broke the game on Hard with a combo of Force Gun and upgraded Plasma Cutter to clean up the remains with some occasional Contact Beam shenanigans:D Stopped feeling like a survival horror a while ago but I'm not complaining:p

I've nearly done with Lies of P, I'm part way through ng++. Thoroughly enjoyed it and have over 90hrs playtime - LOP, Wo Long and Monster Hunter Rise have justified my gamepass ultimate purchase this year.

Tonight I will move onto Lords of the Fallen as it releases at midnight and is probably my most anticipated game of the year (unless Elden Ring DLC finally drops).

Replaying Cyberpunk2077, purchased the DLC, but not got to that yet as wanted to start a fresh with the 2.0 update.

Also some Forza 8

Before these was playing some Starfield, but got very bored after a while, huge disappointment personally.

Just a heads up about a mobile game (calmez-vous!)

Alien Isolation was a great game, they did a sort of spin-off with Amanda Ripley on mobile called Alien Blackout. Anyhoo, it's being delisted on 31st October. It costs 99p on Apple Store, I just bought it because I loved Alien Isolation. Had a quick go last night, seems intruiging but I'm not sure how the heck to play it as there wasn't a tutorial. Plus the screen is just so horribly small for playing games on (when you're used to big TVs). But for 99p, it's a no-brainer.

I'm still really enjoying Lords of the Fallen, hats off to the developers since pre install last Wednesday there have been 4 updates. Performance mode isn't perfect yet but its getting better. I'm hoping it's just Unreal Engine 5 teething problems and the team can get it sorted out as it really is a cracking game.

Ironically it runs noticeably quicker and looks better for me if I turn off hdr in the ps5 system menu.

It reminds me of my first Dark Souls playthrough in that at times you get lost in the world, your not quite sure how to progress and have multiple branching paths. The exploration is absolutely top tier.

Tekken 8 closed beta round 2 starts on the 20th so I guess I'll be playing that as much as possible.

And maybe I'll finish Dead Space Remake, that's all. Playing less and less lately and there's nothing on the horizon that I absolutely must play day one.

Weekend sorted! Been excited for this one for some time, and the 93 average score on Metacritic seems promising.. :)

I am currently playing Dying Light through again. The game is great really. The movement at the beginning of the game is pretty sluggish but once you have got into it a bit its a really enjoyable game. I still think that after over 8 years it still has some of the best atmosphere and weather conditions of games i have played. It has a PS5 patch so it can play 1080p at 60fps, 1440p at 60fps and 4K at 30fps. I am playing 1440p and enjoying it again (It helps that i have a pretty bad memory and cant remember a lot of the story but great for getting good value from games) I have just got to the second part of the game and its great fun throwing zombies from the roofs and watching them splat on the floor.

Jumping back into GTA Online this weekend with a couple of noobs from work who are both 20 years younger than me to show them the ropes. I have 300+ hours on it. Actually really looking forward to it!

So it seems like the biggest noob of all was me :o. Couldn't seem to join their game, figured out it was because they were playing PS5 version and I was using the PS4 disc. I did wonder why the servers seemed so quiet. Ended up purchasing the PS5 version however it was a 91g download so took all of the rest of the day / night.
Now I have paid for that game 5 times. 3 on each of the Xbox gens, once on PS4 and now on PS5. There is a $4m bonus for new players but nothing for anyone migrating their account over despite me now having spent literally hundreds of $'s on this game. Interestingly though I have a character on Xbox too although no where near as high level and it gave the option to migrate that account into the PS.

Easy to see why there is no sign of GTA 6 yet when new players and 10 year vets are still willingly spending money on this game. It also made to very easy to click yes on joining the membership scheme for $8.95 per month, reoccurring forever of course.
