Games you're playing, and games...

Has nobody bought SW Outlaws?? Pretty damning if so, also well done the forum for not pre-ordering!!
Looks awful, so I've steered well clear. Currently absorbed with Black Myth: Wukong but I'm playing it on PC. Will get back to console when Astrobot is released.

I’m not a huge Star Wars fan but I’m really enjoying it. Using Nix as a distraction in stealth is nicely done. Had some of my first space fighting which I usually hate but it was cool here. Pretty solid so far.

Watched a few reviews online today and think I'll avoid it for now. Graphically it looks great and looks like it captures the world well. Also fair play for them not to go down a lightsaber / force wielding path. Skillups review is very balanced and he talks about how it is a little different to standard Ubisoft copy and paste games so at least they are trying something a bit different however as I was a huge fan of the Division games I can't see how Massive have such poor looking combat. Not sure on the stealth sections either, she seems to be knocking out Stormtroopers with a single blow by punching their helmets with a bare fist.

Might pick up a used copy in a couple of months.

Just finished Doom Eternal (XSX) and Another Code Recollection (Switch), both decent.

Have just downloaded Wreckfest, Mechwarrior and the Man Who Erased his Name - hopefully should be quite fun!

Star Wars Outlaws on PS5, having great fun, has a few flaws and some old and tested Ubisoft formula to it, but saying that, the open world feels a lot more varied so far.
Also you really get sucked into the Star Wars universe, really immersive, great photo mode as well.

It’s hit and miss graphically. Can look so amazing at times but then a bit meh at others. Really enjoying it overall though.

Yeah I find that, oddly though I think it looks good graphically now, but that could just be where my eyes have adjusted to the not quite so good graphical parts.
I messed around with some TV settings and took it out of Game mode and it’s much better overall now. Was a bit washed out at times before. I also had it in letterbox for some reason and I’ve changed to full screen with smaller text which also helped.

I've never played any Splinter Cell games, they were mentioned on a YouTube video I saw recently so added them to my Xbox store watchlist. I noticed a few had price drops and I've been tempted to try them.

Please feedback how you find it.
A month later but I finally got a few hours on SC Blacklist yesterday. I am impressed!
I still don't have the patience to play it properly however unlike something like the Hitman series you can play it more like a shooter should you wish. The gun play and cover mechanics are great. I want to play through it reasonably quickly, I don't have the time or patience to study enemy movements so have the difficulty set to rookie so the AI is a bit a dumb, its fun though. I am just stealth killing everyone in sight and if I mess up can just get into a shootout without worrying about dying or having to restart the check point and Sam Fisher is a total badass.
IMO this is peak Ubisoft, this is after what I thought were their best games in the Rainbow 6 series and then Ghost Recon AW which was excellent too. This is also before the more ambitious and bigger AC games then the GR's and Farcrys that followed that were essentially all the same game with different skins. No monetisation either or the tedious go to that lookout, reveal outposts, clear outposts, go to next lookout. Blacklist is Hitman, Ghost Recon and Assassins Creed all rolled into one.

It's an 11 year old game and other than some of the text pop ups like when you hit an achievement (which is very 360) you wouldn't know it. I'm on series X on an LG OLED and it looks superb, yeah I'm old and my eyes aren't what they were and yes most of the game so far is in the dark and at pretty close quarters but it really doesn't feel that modern games have jumped forward all that much. Not sure if it is still on sale in the MS store but I got it for 4 quid and it is well worth it. :)

Thanks for the in-depth review, appreciate it.

Wukong , near the end it seems.

I think the pace of the game is off, it's relentless in the sense it's one battle after another in contrast to say Elden ring where you can spend a bit of time exploring. I think the story suffers slightly too because of the constant action.

That aside the game is bloody game, the a/v fidelity is first class - a gorgeous game to look at especially the artistic design of the later levels.

Cannot wait for the DLCs.

Finished main quest run on star wars outlaws, it was OK but I had some issues with it.

Crashed on me twice, had bugs with sounds not ending after scene transitions, one mission bugged out and required me to reload a prior save to complete it etc.

Didn't really like Kay Vess as a character, felt like a Mary Sue type where she just lucked her way out of every situation, saw a lot of the plot twists coming a mile off as well.

Was extremely short at just over 15 hours for main quest only, not necessarily a bad thing though, if you like the game there seemed plenty of side content to do.

Enforced stealth bits were meh.

Looking forward to Metaphor ReFantazio coming out early next month for my next PS5 game!

Picked up Space Marine this morning on Xbox. Got the last copy in the shop which was a surprise, it only came out today and I was there at 10am. Installed it and the DLC installed with it. Finished work for the day and going to jump on for next two hours.

Going to have to park Splinter Cell BL which is a shame as I was really enjoying it, probably going to be hard going back to it.

I just finished Black Myth Wukong (not bad for a 52 year old lol). I had to go into try hard mode for the final boss and ended up using my resurrect med and my life saving med and still only just beating him with a slither of health left on my 2nd attempt at him. The spell binder skill seemed to work well on him.

It was the perfect end to a really cool game. I played blind so I will probably watch a few guides before attempting ng+ so I can see all the secret bosses that I missed.

There's a secret area ( or two ) each chapter. So you've probably missed a chunk of stuff. That last boss is an edge of your seat thing ... I was the same, used everything I had to beat him down and was out of health potions at the end ( he stole a couple ... the swine ).
