He probably saw the video circulating popular porn sites of her being happily in a gangbang and was like "**** it, I'm out". Also can't believe a 19 year old lying whore managed to raise £52k while there are people around that are in desperate need. Honk honk!

Yes you are correct as one does not mean the other. Her lawyer is obviously playing the system to try and get the best outcome for his client within the system that he is working with.

I've been in the situation of being detained in a foreign country, been wrongly denied access to legal counsel and also pressured into making a statement under duress by police, so I find her account of this particular matter re the police quite plausible and disconcerting.

In my case, I had the good sense not to sign any statement even under threat of imprisonment and once I got hold of British Embassy officials the local police soon let me leave the country.

Surprised we don't have a thread already. This woman said she was gang raped, then retracted her statement after sitting in a room with cops with no family, no witnesses and no lawyers, for 8 hours.

Cypriot coppers aren't exactly renowned for their straight-shooting work ethics, I suspect the words "threat" and "duress" are going to be flung about quite a bit.

But on the other hand Darren (few will get this reference), her story is weird AF too.

Go on GD, solve this mystery!
 
I'm not sure about the verdict in this case. But the British consulate people need to start being pro-active and get more involved quicker in to criminal cases involving British citizens.

I doubt if she was American she'd have been left to fend for herself like this.

Probably a **** anyway. Just an excuse for people that try and look all moral and just when in reality the vast majority couldn't care less and will forget about the whole thing very quickly.

There is absolutely nothing more to it. Young girl wanted to have fun with a few guys. Discovered that her whorish behaviour was caught on camera and threw a tantrum naming everyone she could remember trying to ruin the lives of 12 young men. If the biased British tabloids even bothered to translate the news you would get some facts.
Her case and attitude were so bad that no lawyer wanted to take her up and the one that did only tried to reduce her sentence citing immaturity and her youth.

One of those 12 boys that nearly had their lives ruined could have been your son or your brother. I wonder if you would have the same kind of sympathy for her.

Now her sentence is something worth debating, she only got a slap in the wrist.

The guy went to Moscow for a wedding and was arrested for no good reason. 12 months later, there's still no evidence against him. Ironically, if he really was a spy, the US would be bending over backwards to get him out of there.

I can’t really form an opinion either way on this, it’s just impossible - I have no idea.

However, there is one massive problem.

According to reports, she was questioned for 8 hours, in a foreign jail, with no council, no family or support whatsoever.

At 19 years old, in such a situation - it’s unlikely she’d have enough mental fortitude and resilience to withstand an 8 hour onslaught like that, and probably would cave under pressure.

So whilst I can’t form an opinion on whether she was raped or not, the situation is potentially unsafe, because it sounds like she’s been treated quite unfairly - if the reports are true.

Gonna go out on a limb here, without searching for the video. I imagine if she was unhappy about discovering she being filmed, she probably wanted to stop. Maybe they didn't. Does the video show the whole thing from start to finish?
