It's a rebadged 680.
Ah, I suppose their yields of GK110 are probably good enough not to need to disable any more than 3 SMX clusters as they are on the 780. In that case, no point me getting a 770 then.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The 770 will be an incremental update. The 780 is actually a lot, lot closer in architecture to the Titan than it is the 680.
GK104 vs GK110
770 is highly likely to be a re-badged GK104 (680 basically) with possibly more voltage. So at 1080 the 7950s are likely to be ~10% slower when both are overclocked and this gap will widen at higher resolution.
The 780 is still not massively faster than a year old 680. What, about 25% faster? For an extra £200? Hilarious.
It's to directly compete with the 7970GE.
25% is not what I would call incremental though. It's a pretty decent bump.
Price... the market will determine if it is acceptable or not just like it did with the Titan .
Time will tell.
It'll still be slaughtered at high res and triple screen resolution. The 256 bit bus does tank in some games quite badly if you apply AA.
I am a bit miffed. The waterblocked 780s are now out and available to buy. I wanted one of these in the first place but OCUK told me they won't be available for another week at least so I bought a normal ref Gigabyte card instead.
Now had to place a separate order for a compatible waterblock and backplate and I'll have to fit it myself and paid postage twice. Rare for you but that is a bit poor OCUK .

Cancel original order? A quick phonecall and they will sort it out, I'm sure. Always had excellent customer service anytime I have needed to contact them.
I would but my 780 has already been shipped. This would create a massive ballache as I would need to pay £670-ish on top to get the waterblocked card and then send back the original 780 they sent to me and wait for them to refund me.
I have posted in the customer services section to see if I can at least get my postage refunded given that I had to place a second order for a waterblock/backplate.

have you got any links for that?
cheers,
if you made another 20 or so posts you would get free shipping anyway
I obviously don't post enough .
Kaap I checked and they are super quick these days. Order already shipped so time for me to learn how to crack open a card and apply a block/backplate.

It is very easy to fit a waterblock/backplate, I think you will find it interesting.
I was a little worried when I did the first one the other week but it was very straight forward.
