Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Can't believe the 780's are nearly sold out already.

Nvidia, masters of marketing.......

For me the 780 was £135 more than the 680 when I got that, both purchased on release day, given the build quality, extra RAM and power, personaly I think it's a pretty good buy, a better buy for the money than the 680 was on release IMO.

Although I agree there are far better bang for buck solutions, as a complete package it ticks all the boxes I'm looking for.

Let's hope the wife agrees.......

prices on these 780's are ridiculous. totally not justifiable 25% isnt that big a bump to me for the price, £600 what a joke lol. good job my 7970 lightning at 1200MHZ is still going strong.

£500-£550 I would have bought instantly, but seems I am late and prices are hiked to £600+ already. I'm upgrading from a 470GTX so it's like a 100% increase for me and given this is near a Titan I was willing to pay £550 for like an EVGA.. guess I'll wait and see how prices fluctuate more.

And some who are now classed as old age :D

Over £500 and this was the only accessory in the box

Gigabyte reference models, you'd have thought an SLI connector at least. Do have some that came with my motherboard, Gigabyte X79-UD3, but not sure I have any that will accommodate the 1 - 3 slot spacing I'll be using.

Edit: looks like I might be in luck, have both 3 and 4 way SLI connectors so I guess either should be good.

This is why Nvidia will continue to bend us over and....

Rich kids buying these cards are ruining it for everybody else

I doubt most people buying these cards are "rich kids". Enthusiasts maybe yes. I am certainly not a kid or rich but I do spend on my hobbies. The way you are looking at it is wrong. Nobody is ruining anything. If we're being really honest, the same performance can be had for a lot less money.

I'm sure it's been mentioned many times by other menbers " I've packed up smoking, packed up drinking, don't have expensive holidays, and no other expensive hobbies"....

I always sell of my old kit and spend ~£300 - £400 a year on my PC.

I'd rather a good GPU a year than a new smart phone.....persoanlly.

You don't need to be rich to find that kind of money every year, if you feel you will get sufficient value from it and are prepaired to sacrifice other things why not?

TBH unless you have more money than sense the obvious choice is to buy a AMD 7950 / 7970 and wait until Nvidia release the next gen of cards which will probably see 780 performance at reasonable prices.

I think if you can justify spending £600 on a 780 or £900 on a titan when you can have 75% of the performance for <£300 (7950/7970) then you are going to be well off for money. It is like my friend who has £1000 a month disposable income and moans about being poor and says he wish he was rich... Grrr how annoying. I bet you earn at least 25k a year to be able to justify a 780 @ £600.
