Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

If cloud ever became the mainstream way to play games I think I'd probably quit playing. I can never see it working, not in the near future anyway for fast paced FPS games. Input lag can already be an issue without having to stream the game.

So if battlefield 6/7 finally gets here in a fashion that allows it to play just as well as battlefield 3 does at the moment, yet while streaming the content you wouldn't be interested. :rolleyes:

I do agree that at the moment the technology isn't there, but give it a few more years and who knows how good this sort of thing will be.

New post on semi-accurate which backs up the fudzilla statements and provides more detail on the 7 series line up.

Luckily there is also a “new” Geforce 770 based on the same GK104 die as the current 680 but in GK104-425 guise. This one is promised for the middle of May, so slightly before Computex with ~25% higher performance than the current GeForce GTX680 and around the same price.

So 770 will be ~25% faster than 680? For around same price as 680?

Would rather it be "as fast as" GTX680, but at 50-60% of the price :p

If the source is true about same parts but just higher clock, I'm guessing that the GTX770 is basically Nvidia's "GTX680 GHz Editon" or GTX680 1.1/1.2GHz Edition"? :D Sounds like Nvidia re-badging mid-high card as high-end card for one gen is not enough...the profit tasted so good for them that the are back for more, and stretching the GK104 as high-end for one more gen...

Guess now we know why they locked the voltage on the GTX600 series...

Actually...if they really price the GTX770 the same as the GTX680, then it would really be as I feared, with the Titan making the pricing of the "standard cards" increasing as well, justifying it by filling in performance and pricing gaps by linking the "standard cards" up to the Titan cards at top, when the Titan and GTX cards should really have nothing to do with one another.

780 = GK110 15 percent slower than titan or so.
770 = GK104 680.
760 = GK104 670.

Pointless to upgrade if you already have a 6 series, if you have 5 series it'd be worth getting a 680 once the 7 series come in and drop their price (if they drop the price at all)

Or maybe:
780 = GK110 Titan -15% speed and only 5GB
770 = GK104 680.+15% due to higher stock clock (and 4GB?)
760 = GK104 670 +15% due to higher stock clock (and 4GB?)

What if you're still on a 480? Would a 770 be a good upgrade?

I would not even give it any thought until we see some performance and price numbers.

I think the GTX 780 is going to be the interesting card if they get the price right. The performance could be a lot closer to the Titan than some of the numbers being quoted at the moment. The GTX 780 uses about 7 or 8% less active silicon on the GK110 and 1 Gb less vram, both of these things also make it a little easier to overclock. The performance difference be the Titan and 780 could be as little as 5%, for the right price a bargain.

I will be getting whatever is the best and quietest card at under £250 once the 700 series has been released. I am hoping the 670's might drop a bit, or that a 760Ti or a 770 might be in the £200-£300 price bracket.

We shall see.
