Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Only you can answer that. If these come out at the higher end of 500-600 you can nearly pay for the CF setup for the price of a single 780, with a lot more performance.

Correct. For the price of a 780 (assuming it is ~£600) you could pretty much get your 2 7970's and have 50-60% more performance.

However, you also have to take in to account the issues involved with multi-gpu's, which I am sure you are familiar with.

I might go for 770's SLI or 7970 CF.

770's will use less power & could probably get away with using my current PSU, but will be more expensive.
7970 CF will be the opposite & may require a new PSU...

Decisions, decisions.

# How much can I get for my GTX 580 Twin Frozr?
They seem to go for around £100 on Forums. Pretty poor value imo.
Better to sell on the bay?

3930k @5Ghz with 1.5v
2x 7970s @ 1200/1650 1337mv...

750w is fine, even if it is a 5 year old unit. From the leaks we've seen already the 770 uses more power than a 680 and that puts it at an arms length of a 7970.

Edit: ^ That's with a lot more voltage than most people use 24/7, especially if it's air cooled :D

Thats music to my ears I have a Corsair TW750 as well, didnt really wanna splash another £100 on a PSU

Edit: hold on im seeing that spec pulling 800W+ most of the time???

Peaks at 860w from the wall, that's around 700w from the PSU.
The only disadvantage of running a PSU near maximum rated is the noise coming from the fan!

Edit: That spec is also running a 3930k so a lot more power hungry than your typical SB/IB chip, especially at those clocks/voltage.

Do you even need more than a 7970 / 680 at the moment for single 1440p display?

Definetly. Newer games at top settings are even making my 7970 drop into the 40's (rarely) and 50's and that is at 1920x1080. Hence the reason I am sticking a 2nd 7970 in at some point in the mext few weeks. Slight overkill at my res, but I plan on going to 120hz at some point and may give AMD3D another go on my 47" LG.
