Geforce GTX 780, 770 coming in May

Mmmm yes my 5870 is really showing its age now at 1680x1050 / 1080p

If anyone wants to donate their old card when they upgrade then I will happily accept that.

How many of you actually need the gtx 780 though? Surely this card is more aimed at people who have multi monitors or run games in 3D? For everyone else the 7970 or 680 is more than enough grunt for todays games unless you're just upgrade freaks who cant stop or resist new tech lol. Or have too much cash to burn!

It is true for single screen 1080p 60Hz a 780 is pointless.

I game on 120hz, i like having two cards for aesthetics and only game using one card. If i do end up getting a 780 it means i'll be able to finally try out 3DVision :D (Tried Tri-Def with my old 750D monitor, made my eyes bleed)

To be fair though, the games i actually play a 5850 or thereabouts would be overkill :D

I currently have no desktop so this won't be an upgrade for me. What I want is the best nVidia card for a fairly decent price - that looks to be the 780, thus I will get this card. I want to be able to max (or very nearly max) out the latest games at the resolution of my monitor (2560x1440) at an acceptable frame rate and I need an nVidia card for PhysX.

Hence, why I "need" the GTX-780 :)

This is the bit that will be debatable among 1440p display owners. I.e. what is max or nearly max. The main problem is a lot of today's games essentially cripple even the most advanced GPUs at 1080p and 1440p just "because they can" rather than because they need to. If you set TXAA to x4 in Crysis 3 you essentially halve your fps over no AA...and for what!? I notice almost zero visual difference. There are arguments that if TXAA (or other AAs) were implemented properly at the coding stage, GPUs would handle all these "demanding" games better.

But the success and sales of the Titan bought by pro users gamers alike has paved the way for Nvidia to rip customers off forever more.

Both AMD and nVidia will price their products however the hell they want and irrespective of this they will still sell.

Your both wrong, its all 3DFX's fault! If they hadn't priced the Voodoo 5 6000 at $600 ($810 in today's money) we wouldn't be in this mess XD

When Maxwell comes out and there's an even bigger improvement in performance? lol

Good point by then midrange cards might beat 780's? Even more reason to hold off buying anything expensive this year lol.

My 7950's are tracking, coming tomorrow, I cannae wait!

*Weird that they send the codes out first via email, I bet a few have just sent the cards back n kept the codes lol*

did Titan owners get a games bundle? im wondering if Nvidia will add an extra game or 2 to 780/Titan buyers to soften the blow/sweeten the deal, similar to the AMD bundle where you get more games when you buy a more expensive gpu

Ohmydays that is a sexy card. Build quality has to be good, be a shame if it was a letdown cause that looks sturdy as a rock and ready for toasting.
