Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

im hoping just doing a 7nm Vega will be like first/2nd gen Ryzen- great.. it works and hopefully cheaper - then push their next design on the 7nm to really hit home .

then again, any competition in the market is great

The 7nm part should give upto a 10% speed boost over current VEGA 64, probably on average 5-7% not bad. No idea on pricing as current VEGA is highly subsidised by AMD, they make a loss after funding the current lower sell prices so hopefully any re-spin they do can hopefully reduce their manufacturing cost considerably as sell GPU at a loss only leads in one direction and they can't rely on CPU to keep their head above water always especially now as they are pricing CPU more aggressively.

We shall see as it stands now VEGA 64 at £449 with the games bundle is a good offer as the 64 should comfortably beat a 1080 in most titles, particular higher resolution and cost around the same.
The real pick is the Powercolor card as its probably the best VEGA 64 on the market if your case has enough room for the monster that is the Devil cooler.

For me where VEGA is a clear win is with the whole FREESYNC support and the fact you can buy 4k FREESYNC monitors for around £300 or high refresh rate 144Hz 1440P panels for also about £300, its the whole monitor side of things that is keeping AMD quite a strong choice in the gaming community. Of course the fact they are quite strong at mining helps too if your into that to recoup some cash. :)

@Gibbo

true, speically when you've got combos for 2600/1700x and 2700x plus vega 64 .. could land a system for just over £1k ...

thought about doing this for your Monste Hunter package ? since thread usage is high....

I know theres the Gigawatt but lacks some... beauty

wonder if the next next Vega will be as RGB as incoming nvidia =/

Monste Hunter package? What do you mean?

We have considered doing a big bundle if that is what you mean, but in fairness be no different then just buying the CPU bundle and VEGA separably as there is no more money to give. I don't need to say but OcUK at £450, in stock and with games I believe is way cheaper than anywhere else and by over £100 compared to most competitors. I went to AMD with a plan, they approved it, hence the bundles and VEGA 64 pricing. :)

AMD will maybe do RGB, but end of the day the glitter so to speak is what the board partners are for, they add the additional features, RGB, bigger coolers, overclocks etc.

Only 10%? I was expecting more like 35%+ as that's what the rumours led me to believe. Is anything high end coming from AMD this year or will Nvidia remain unchallenged in 2018?

Pretty sure there haven't been any rumors suggesting 35% boost from a 7nm respin of polaris or vega. 10% is about as much as you can expect from a die shrink (e.g. lower power usage allows for clock speed boost) with no other redesign work.

This it is just a die shrink, not a new GPU, 5-7% is where performance gain shall be, 10% at most.

True, but if AMD are a little more fastidious with their binning and which chips actually go into production, they could squeeze a couple more % out through proper tuning out of the box.

So realistically do we expect any worthwhile info in tonight's presentation by Jensen at Siggraph?

I know Siggraph is normally for professional users and not gamers, so I'm not expecting the upcoming new cards to be announced, but it could still be worth a watch.

Probably lots of talk about the ray tracing on new boards. If there's any use of the phrase "across the range" then we could possibly extrapolate some numbers for the cut-down pro cards that will become gaming cards.

amd gpu was stated in very very early road maps for q4 , but lot of things change from q1/2 maps ...

what im afriad of , vega 56/64 seems to lack the flair of pascal AIB designs - dont think they'll get missed off next time around
