Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

I am fairly sure nVidia people must know the date, events take time to organise, you need hotel availability, marketing, conference bookings etc. This won't be planned and done in a week, or 2, not even a month before. But they don't need to, the date is probably already known to a number of people within nVidia (who are already planning the event) and will be announced to the public when they deem necessary. Yes, it could be leaked, but my guess is that why risk your job to let a few gaming nerds know about a new GPU? It is not like they are going to make any money out of it.

Indeed it does take a very long time to organise stuff but that does not mean that even the best plans will pan out due to unexpected circumstances.

Don't they tend to announce at other events so all that side is already covered? But the post-launch publicity, coping with the surge in demand (hopefully), and so on, that will take organising.

No, Nvidia since many years never announced their gaming gpus on other events. Only HPC stuff is normally announced at the gtc. New gaming chip series will get their own event like always.

It's been over two years since Nvidia launched its current generation of GeForce gaming GPUs powered by the Pascal architecture, so you could have been forgiven for expecting the successor to have surfaced around Computex this week. According to CEO Jensen Huang, however, there's still a while to wait. Speaking to reporters at a roundtable in Taipei, Huang answered a query about the next GeForce GPUs by saying that “it's a long time from now.”

Ah OK thanks Jedi. I think it might have to be just the Palit Jetstream 1060 6GB - the last few expensive cards I sold off when prices were silly high were such a hassle - £229 for a 1060 6GB feels like an OK price.

Apparently some leak from Galax. Some Chinese streamer.

The streamer : When is the new graphic card ?

The Galax : August, our inside info says that probably august we get the Data and after design. It would be September. And every month after that, it will be a new card.
I am more inclined to believe this than what Mr Leather Jacket Man says. Seems like he has already tricked a few people here to believing him. I would be surprised if we have no new cards in August. Worst case November imo.

NVidia are looking to clear out stock of 1080s and 1080 Ti's as they featuring them in promotions but the question is how many weeks/months this will take.

Lets all encourage people here when they ask if they should buy or wait, to just buy. You know the line "no point waiting, buy and enjoy today!". Also when they see Mr Leather Jacket Man say it is far from release date, "yeah true mate, you should buy one now, why wait?".

Just kidding by the way. My advice is always to wait when you know something new is around the corner. If you can wait that is, if not, buy now, buy 2 for SLI even :p

The thing about tech forums is most people who buy PC hardware don't read them. What this means is we can give our fellow members good advice about waiting for the next gen without it really effecting Mr Leather Jacket Man's total sales.:D:)

He is being a bit misleading saying a "very long time", that sounds like years etc. For example 2-4 months is not a "very long time". A "very long time" would be something like march 2019 for example.
