Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

If this is real I am in a slight way relieved. At the same time that confirms 2080 = 1080ti, although relying more heavily on new features than pure hardware specs. So to get the performance we had expected the 2080 to be we need the game to have good DLSS. Regardless very good to see in games like ARK!

Taking these at face value, yes, it looks like RTX 2080 will be equal more or less to GTX 1080 ti with extra features. So £100 more for the same performance with a few features... 2 years later. Raw deal.

Yeah.

So according to Nvidia, Turing cards performance needs a new measure unit, and the 30fps @ 1080p we saw at the Tomb Raider are "Turing FPS" not just "plain FPS"..... :D

This looks like a bigger money grabbing scam since Star Citizen..... :p

Well I've had my annual fill of the GC section. See you all in a year for the AMD card that's no faster than the 2080 but as large as the 2080ti. :)

Kinda impossible given that all new AMD CPU/GPUs going to be 7nm, having started with Vega 20/EPYC Rome already 3 months ago.

Yea, the AMD leading on a new process meme is a thing round here I forget.

In all serious though. The Vega64 has a larger die and higher transistor count than the 1080ti yet is not competitive at all. While the chip is does trade blows with, the 1080 is a much smaller part. AMD will have to make significant improvements to counter this, and I'm not sure where we can see those coming from.

Now, what was this thread about again?

I modified their slide with a modest 35% performance increase (which could be more for the Ti) and FPS numbers at 4K are looking pretty good:

If Pascal didn't take such an HDR hit then you'd be right, but it looks like Turing 'fixes' the issue that Pascal has with it.
PUBG, ARK, Tomb Raider, JX3, Wolfenstien 2 and Infiltrator Demo don't have HDR, yet they still show the same 40 to 50% uplift.

Your "narrative" is falling apart here.

Pascal has no HDR "hit" when running no down-sampled chroma.
Exactly.
