Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Anyone who thinks that Nvidia is forcing you needs a reality check. Nobody is forcing you.

There are other cards such as 1080, 1080ti and Vega cards that play games on high resolution monitors already.
People just wish they had competition at the high end. Don't we all. I miss spending weeks choosing between AMD and Nvida, weighing up the pros and cons, the prices.
This situation really hurts.

With every other GPU release - YouTubers get sent cards and they run benchmarks and make video reviews.
Where are the video reviews of these cards? Have they not been sent cards? Will they be? What's going on?

Not giving us a choice is pretty much the same as forcing us imo, there is no alternative if we want more performance, simple as that.

You can twist it anyway you want, makes no difference to me.
You have a choice - you can either choose to buy the cards or you can choose not to buy the cards. Nvidia have zero obligation to release hardware at a price you think is reasonable - they do however have a legal obligation under US law called "fiduciary duty" which requires them to maximise profits for their shareholders (and given their stock price has risen consistently since the announcement of the new hardware, hard to argue they are not meeting that obligation). The key word in your quote above is "WANT" want is a choice - you have made the choice that you want more performance just the same as if I own a Subaru and want more performance I make a choice to buy a faster (more expensive) car. The fact remains a choice has been made - you might not like the cost of that choice but it is a choice nonetheless.

Do I like the price of the 2080Ti - no of course not, it is expensive as **** - but I still made the choice to buy two and I take full responsibility for that choice.

No need to be sour, I wouldn't choose a GPU over a holiday with my 4 year old either.
How am I being sour?? I'm just gently saying why, to me, it's too much for a GPU. It's not good "value". Not having a go at you or being "sour". Just saying that I get a lot more out of a holiday than a few photos. Actually.... I don't take photos on holiday.

The whole shill thing is kind of nonsense, most of these guys are just happy and excited about tech. So they come on saying "hey this is new and cool" and people jump down their throats for "shilling", then they do in depth testing on something and say "this one scores higher than that one" and people jump down their throats for "shilling". Then they go "here's just a list of facts and test scores for a product with no comparison to anything else" and people jump down their throats for "shilling".

What do people want exactly? For me I think having more and different people doing different stuff in different ways its the best deal for us as it lets us actually get different points of views on this stuff before forking out money.

I totally get it if people don't like watching youtuber X, but hey, just don't watch them?

I do agree with you. But some people on this forum are taking things a little too seriously.

1080s and the like haven't become trash now if you get what I'm saying.:)

If you want more performance there is no choice, yes you can choose not to buy but that doesn't change a thing.

I didn't need to know that, neither does it matter but thanks for sharing.

You don't? That's the best bit when it pops up on google photos or whatever backup you use, saying remember this day 2/3 years ago.
Agreed. I really enjoy taking photo's (not to the extent of the chinese) but brings back smiles when I get notifications and look back through. My 2 girls have grown up and fled the nest and whilst I see them all the time, I love looking back through history and seeing how they were back then. Anyways.... Back on topic.

I love going through the pictures of my daughter on my phone and she's only 10 months old!

You aren't very good at comprehension are you - the WANTING MORE PERFORMANCE is itself a CHOICE - it is something you want, you don't need it, your life does not depend on it, you will continue to exist and play games at exactly the same level of quality you do now - it is a choice.

People complaining about the price comes across as entitlement tbh. Can’t afford it or think too expensive, then move along it’s not for you.

They are too expensive for me, but so what? Many things are too expensive for me.

Don't be so naive. It's well known reviewers get swayed with certain privileges depending on their content. AMD/Nvidia stop access and the sending of review hardware to those deemed too critical. Look what happened with GPP. Look how AMD blacklisted HardOCP and Kyle Bennett for their perceived harsh reviews of Hawaii generation (interestingly, now they are in favour with AMD and blacklisted by Nvidia).

Mate, Hruska hates NVidia with a passion and is proven wrong on so many occasions.

What he is saying is spot on. This is the first implementation of RT in the consumer graphics card market, it will take years to take off.

I can see the point of view as it also has some impact on the mid and lower end although PC gaming is still more than viable. It's the repeating (although I am also repeating about people repeating!) of the same moaning. On this very page is someone who has pretty much been posting the same stuff for 2 days straight about the prices. The same stuff. For 2 days. It must be an attention thing.

Hmm, don't agree.

Should the card offer 40% increases over last gen and include RT as a new tech then perhaps the price is justified.

However, if it transpires the card providers much less of an increase, say 10% with the additional of RT then I would say the 70% increase in cost is definitely not justified.
